God did create perfect world. It's called Heaven.

Of course all the following questions are stated for arguments sake only, since I disbelieve that any afterlife exists.

Is there free will in Heaven?

If so, then people are still free to act immorally in Heaven, and therefore, it is not a perfect world.

If people are unable to act immoral in Heaven, then there is no free will in Heaven, and therefore, it is not a perfect world.

If god is able to create a perfect world, like heaven, then why didn't he just do it here on earth?

Or, why didn't he just create Heaven, with the souls of those he wanted to spend eternity with in the first place?

Instead, what he did, is create the entire universe to be nothing more than a 'soul filtering machine', just to weed out those souls that he didn't want to have in Heaven in the first place. But doesn't everything happen according to god's plan? So, he knew ahead of time, which souls would end up in heaven, and which wouldn't. So, in other words, he purposely created billions upon billions of souls, knowing ahead of time which ones would be rewarded be going to heaven, and which ones would't.

What an inept deity.

Atlas why are you so insistent on changing the meaning of the quran? I mean it's supposed to be the perfect document, yet you are insisting that the "moon split" legend is about how the moon formed rather than a story about the moon splitting down the middle on the orders of Mohammed to convert pagans, which is what the book's (9th century) writers clearly meant.

I only believe in the Quran; stories claimed in Hadith books don't represent me or my belief.

We are close to it for 50 years now.
Computer scientists can't create single qualia.
If universe came from nothing, create another universe from nothing. Not necessarily as big as our universe, just couple of stars in it will be enough.

How does the fact the scientists are unable (yet) to create life, consciousness, or a universe, give any credence that a god is responsible for these things?

Because the process of consciousness is not even defined yet as a scientific process, the creation of life is very limited and finite; as for God being responsible: he is the deity we theists believe responsible for the haunting pattern that keeps showing in everything we discover.

Or; in other words: he is the one behind science.

What is more jarring to me is the need these folks have to push their rather silly beliefs onto others. If anything it demonstrates a great insecurity, a desire to be an authority in myths. It shows how much of a failure in every aspect of reality they become.

Yeh I encountered this on Islamic forums years and years ago.


The moon as far as I can tell from videos and what I've read was formed by vaporized rock from an impact between Earth and another planet.  That whole event doesn't involve an existing moon and it being split.  In fact not only does it not involve an existing moon being split, it's pretty much the exact opposite thing happening, the moon is being formed, drawn together, becoming one thing, which is the moon. 

Another thing to say is that most translations of the quran say specifically "Split in two" which takes it even further away from being about the creation of the moon, which doesn't involve a moon splitting anyway.

And in the very next verse it talks about people seeing a sign and relates it to the first verse.  "Yet when they see a sign...."  

Also let's say we go into the land of fantasy and say the quran is talking about the creation of the moon why is it talking about people seeing signs involving this in the next verse?  That would involve humans being on Earth during this impact and during the creation of the moon and observing it.
