Touche.. .. but thats what video games are for
What if 50% the energy/money that went into creating fleets of tanks, warships, and aircraft, went into... lets say... R&D for fusion and Geo-thermal energy, or transit, or basically anything thats purpose is not destruction and waste. Think about when a fighter crashes... that is like 150 Mil (F-22). 150 million... is A LOT of money.

It certainly would be nice if that were the case, and it's something worth working towards. It's not going to happen overnight, though.
Regarding the purpose of weapons of war: I have to disagree - while one of their uses is destruction, the primary purpose is to send the message "Don't fuck with us, we'll fuck you back." In any case, we're in substantial agreement on your main point.

“I guess I can't, or my subconscious can't, even imagine a warless world. The best it can do is substitute one kind of war for another. You said, no killing of humans by other humans. So I dreamed up the Aliens. Your own ideas are sane and rational, but this is my unconscious you're trying to use, not my rational mind. Maybe rationally I could conceive of the human species not trying to kill each other off by nations, in fact rationally it's easier to conceive of than the motives of war. But you're handling something outside reason. You're trying to reach progressive, humanitarian goals with a tool that isn't suited to the job. Who has humanitarian dreams?”

50%??? Try 10%, if a fraction of the money spent on "defence" was spent on space we'd have motels on Europa or Titan by now.
I weep for the wasted resources.
But on the other hand, it was probably the invention of weapons that drove humanity to walk upright all the time and gave us our proclivity for advanced mathematics.

War creates ill gained profits for a small amount of people on this planet.
The thing that I hear the most, that pisses me off the worst... the absolute WORST excuse for war I have ever heard:
"..but many of our best scientific discoveries came about from war."

Sure...I mean, what would humanity ever do if we didnt have land mines or thumb screws?
POINT: All of this stuff could easily had been invented without war.
Its the same bad excuse people give me for Capitalism. They suggest that without a profit motive, nothing would have been accomplished or invented.
Basically they are saying that without war and money, mankind would be a bunch of lazy dipshits.
...and then people wonder why crony capitalism and war is job number one in America and other countries...

It seemed I had to vote I'm OK with war.
I don't want no strange foreign invaders cruelly enslaving me more than my current familiar oppressors do.
