Chinese travel/tourism expenditure graph. SARS1 outbreak 2003 abt 5 billion spent. SARS2 outbreak 2020 abt 250 billion spent - a 50 fold increase. There has of course also been less striking growth in travel/tourism globally in general. There isn't really any need therefore IMO to deduce that the SARS2 virus is any more virulent than the SARS1 virus - it just got spread around all over the place quicksharp a lot more.

The number of active cases in China seems to have fallen below 5000 so that's encouraging.

Thought I would share a couple pictures.  Stopped at the store on my way home from work.  Was surprised to see most things well-stocked.  Was more surprised when I rounded a corner and caught a glimpse of today's holy grail - the 'one per family pandemic four pack' of toilet paper.

I took pictures of it next to a regular roll of TP for scale.  At least they weren't price gouging...it was a whopping $.69.

A bit of perspective. From the first reported case of COVID-19, it took 67 days to reach 100 000 cases, 11 days to reach 200 000 cases, and 4 days to reach 300 000 cases.

The curve isn’t flattening. No where near it.

I hope we reach peak in as little as the next 2 months.
It's also unlikely, historically, that we won't have a second wave.
The second wave of the Spanish flu killed more than the first wave...

But enough of the bad news. What are some positives?
Cleaner air? More family time? More time for ourselves? Much less junk food consumed?
