Maybe a couple elections ago, that assumption that conservatives are trying to beat the opposition at what they think is their own game might have been plausible. With the rise of Trump, I'm convinced that the problem is much deeper than that: namely that this is what they think morality in general is, just with different cultural signifiers. Once you see enough people defending Trump's "grab em by the pussy" tape and acting like merely the word "pussy" is the source of the outrage (and not that he's basically Bob Dursted himself and confirmed that he sees nothing wrong with being a sexual predator), it's kind of hard for me to think otherwise, especially when you see this isn't all that much of an aberration.

I'm referring to the rightwing nutball protests and misinformation surrounding the governors order.  Those guys were always going to declare the democratic governor of anywhere a totalitarian dictator wannabe.  Rand paul is singing the same song here about our governor (and our home improvement centers aren't even cordoned off....yet!   ).

Rinse and repeat with states all over the us.  It's a coordinated political messaging campaign.  Regardless of our general lack of interest in supporting dem candidates or giggling at the inadequacy of the dem ticket at the national level, that's the reality of the issue in the stories you were reading.

People can buy whatever they want, buying whatever we want is not a right, and there's nothing unreasonable about cordoning off areas that people are congregating in, already under guidelines, during an outbreak.

Whitmer's edicts and messaging have been all over the place. So bad, that she apparently had to be reminded by staff that one of her arbitrary decrees would result in violating of cities' ordinances and imposition of fines, thus putting herself in the position of have fix, clarify or otherwise amend her nonsensical mishmash--which she's trying to push off as "thoughtful governance". Clearly it isn't.

The fact that Republicans are gonna Republican doesn't change that.

I am going to point out that Gov. Whitmer's messages aren't the only ones that have been all over the place. There have been many statements that have been walked back, explained, revised, etc. that there have been few clear statements from any level of government, unless I have missed something.

Part of it is the changes that being made as new information becomes available and that's understandable.

But there have also been outright lies, assumptions, and hunches bandied about as truths.

It's no wonder people don't know for sure what they should do and can do.

Both sides of the aisle and all levels are guilty.

1.Considering you can't spread abortions .If a person gets one it's not like it's going to kill any other fetuses 

2. By her logic having to wear safety equipment or washing your hands at some jobs is tyranny .I guess she would be cool with someone operating on her with having washed their hands or wearing any gloves .

We've gone from a police state where people can't buy seeds to bad messaging.  The wingnut welfare circuit got you worked up about something that wasn't happening.  That's all. I wish that their opposition was better at messaging too.

That disparity really has been key to the rapid increase in the rate of american decline, or if we prefer, to abandoning any final pretense of america as we thought we knew it or as it could be. My list of gripes with the neo-confederates in power are loooooong, but I recognize that they're much better at propaganda than the other guys.
