What does that come to in today's money?

The long version is I was going down to Laredo, TX, to help my brother move from the Air Force base there to one in Indiana. I rode with his father-in-law. He had pickup truck with a camper which had two aux. gas tanks, 25 gal. each, under the camper. Total capacity ~70 gallons. Just north of the Oklahoma state line we found gas for $0.259/gal and he topped off the tanks. (To give you so perspective the pumps only had one digit display for the dollar column.) And when he got down into Texas and saw gas for $0.08 less he was furious.
Price went up $.16 overnight.. All stations within an hour....
I've seen military drill teams that couldn't operate with such precision..... Bastards...
I filled up at Cumberland Farms last Tuesday. Gas was $1.859/gal.

Cheapest fuel here is at the local CostCo at $2.60 for regular. Oh, California has "a special blend", doncha know!? Now take off state and federal taxes and the sales tax imposed on all of it and we's be under $2 a gallon as well.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
About $US4.70 here, which is down significantly.

You meant gas, not "gas" ?
BTW, it's better if you used "fuel"; because the word "gas" is misleading. It's an international forum, you know. . . The post smells. I don't really think the OP was asking about the price of helium. Boru

The word gas is used in the U.S only, around here we call it "Banzine", which is "fuel". Though I watched tons of American media to realize that Americans call "fuel" with "gas". Even "Friends" picked up on the word in the video I posted. |
