His objection to this is that his last objection to that went nowhere, which will inevitably be his next objection to whatever.
We could go the other way with it as well, already done both angles. Presumably, the set of beliefs and practices which meet our criteria that jesus described was the religion of christianity - and until he shared it, it was just him.
Zero, one, two, two trillion. Religions and governments can be in any number of developmental states with any number of members, or none. Our contemporary classical greek pagan could also be the last remaining member of some historic regime. He could have been the first.

In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. Right enough. A set with no members is still a set.

I'm not doing the objecting. I'm asking the questions that Grand is dancing around. That might be unclear if you just read the last page and nothing prior.
As for your example, the question wouldn't be if it's still a religion conceptually, but if the religion still exists with no members. Does the Roman Empire still exist with no citizens? Does a team like the Baltimore Bullets exist with no players? Can you have a group with no individuals? Can you have a group of just one person?

I am wondering upon what logical basis should science not be an aspect of every day life. After all, unlike religion, science is a basis of reality.

Science isn't the basis of reality, it is the basis for modeling reality.

I find this interpretation difficult to accept for the following reason: replace science with religion in your statement, and we understand that both statements are untrue.

In so much as all intelligence is nothing but, and can in principle be nothing but, modeling reality.

Correct, as Donald Hoffman puts it: "What we call ‘reality,’ consists of an elaborate paper-mache construction of imagination and theory filled in between a few iron posts of observation."
