Well, if you can’t describe why you hold the position that you do, why you reject the position I hold, or any other example of some similar thing....it’s unclear how you expected to have a conversation about this subject.

You know what you see, so it must amount to a difference between what you and I see....and I wonder, wasn’t that always going to be the explanation for why one person can’t know something that another person can?

You know -that- you x that no one can know whether gods exist, and I know that you x that too.... but neither of us knows why, since I would have to rely on you for that information- and you don’t have it.

Meanwhile, I have all the information I require to know that gods don’t exist, and can and have been able to explain and describe that information, and even the process I use to derive conclusions from it. A process I use for a great many other items of my knowledge, like my name or whether the sun is shining.

Saying “I am an atheist, but I could be wrong”...is to claim that you’re wrong about your apprehensions of your own beliefs.

Fucking ludicrous.

At any rate, I was asking whether you doubted my knowing my name or whether the sun is shiny. Seems like you don’t have an issue with either of those so it can’t be knowledge in general that you object to, or the process of claiming knowledge by leveraging sound assertions to valid conclusions.

That just leaves the god question as it’s own special case, or there being some disagreement if relevant fact between us. Do you think the gods question is the only unanswerable question, or are there more that you would lump in with it?
