Because it's necessary at this point in time for people to take a stand against the BS woke cancel culture, and Dave Chapelle and these other comedians are not speaking up about this to be edgy. That's not it at all. It's because they feel it is absolutely necessary to take a stand at this moment in history, to try to save comedy in general from being cancelled and watered down by the woke mob. I applaud them for doing this.

I haven't watched the special, but the tweets about it in the first link weren't over-reactions or cancel culture.

A comedian can use edgy material to show some absurdity.  Sure, a trans woman isn't identical to a biological woman.  The TERF term, however, is a political statement that trans-women must not ever be considered women.

That's his opinion, and it isn't humorous.  That's when the comedy becomes politics that I can't support.

What's the definition of a "woman"?

Dave Chappelle doesn't know the difference between gender and sex. He seems to think they are the same thing. He's far from an expert on this subject and on these terms, but he's certainly not a "radical" feminist in the first place, so he can't be a TERF without first being a radical feminist. In fact, he said he just found out what feminist means, so clearly this isn't an area he's been studying for years or anything. Can people be offended by him calling himself TERF? Sure. He said far worse things in the stand-up special though. Said he enjoyed being raped by a priest. Compared his body fighting coronavirus to black people on the street attacking Asians, basically equating Chinese people with the virus. It's supposed to be offensive, but I don't think Dave actually understands what a TERF really is, and he clearly said he respects trans enough to call them what they want to be called, and he said he's not saying they're not women, but he thinks gender is fact. I believe he means sex AKA chromosomes and body parts are fact, but I'll call you a woman if you want to be called one, which you can call an undereducated opinion, but he's not intentionally being hateful at all to trans people imo.

But yeah, one of the first responses in this thread was about Dave Chappelle thinking trans people were some kind of non human monsters, and this is the kind of nonsense you will hear from many trans activists. "You won't even acknowledge that I'm a human being" and "your speech is violence so you need to be silenced". It's nonsense.

No, they don't have to learn to do any of that. These clowns need to learn to update their comedy instead of playing the victim they aren't and weaponizing comedy because your butthurt is just pathetic.

Dave Chappelle is the biggest comedian in the world. He doesn't need to alter shit about his act. He's trying to save comedy from this death by 1000 cuts which it is currently undergoing.

Dave Chappelle is a whiny bitch who either needs to update his act or just go the fuck away. Not piss and moan comedy is leaving people like him behind. The only thing he and his fellow reactionaries hasbeens are saving is their own bottom line and relevance.

Kevin Hart? I'm talking about stand-up comedy shows, not movies. No one on the planet respects Kevin Hart more than Dave Chappelle when it comes to comedy. And Amy Schumer is in the top ten?

8 % audience score.  https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/amy_schumer_growing 92 % think she's shit. Leather special rating was one star or something like that I believe. Netflix had to change the ratings system just to try to make her look better. Maybe if it was one of the few actual funny women on the planet like Roseanne Barr or someone like that, I might take your list even a little seriously. Roseanne is a woman that can actually bring in the ratings, and still would be if they didn't kick her off of her own show.

It's not my list...dumbass.

Dave Chappell is old news trying to climb up and be relevent again.  He screwed the pooch years ago.  You are just to stupid to see it.

So were just going to present someones opinion as fact? What criteria is being used to measure popularity? Not a single person on that list can get away with saying the same thing that Dave Chapelle says without being cancelled, the exception being Bill Burr (Kevin Hart has literally been made to apologize after being cancelled). Dave and Bill are literally uncancellelable, and that's mainly due to their popularity.

Looking at that Louis CK entry, I could tell this was out of date. It still talks like he's doing Louie and mentions nothing about his making a perverted ass out of himself. For what it's worth, here's another list more recent: https://www.humorsearch.com/2021-standup...ns-ranked/

Chappelle's at #2, second only to Bill Burr. That said, I'm not sure how someone can objectively rank them, though. Is there some sort of RateYourMusic/TheyShootPicturesDontThey/AcclaimedMusic style consensus ranking of stand-up comedians?
