My OP was more about atheism than Josh Duggar.

In any case, I have dug a little deeper into this one. Apparently, JD was using a bittorrent client to download child porn, and the Arkansas police caught him with the use of a modified bittorrent client called Torrential Downpour, which was created by the FBI and is exclusive to the federal and local police.

To download something in a P2P (peer to peer) swarm means that someone has to be uploading it, which means that the creep who did so in JD's case is still at large. Arkansas law enforcement was simply part of the swarm, which is how they got JD's IP address, tracing things to his business computer.

Most perverts are, of course, smart enough not to use their home and business IPs to download illegal material, instead using anonymous public WiFi which is available nearly everywhere. Uploading (being a seeder) is much more difficult, as such typically requires having an open port via port forwarding on one's router.

The real "pros" bypass bittorrent all together using Tails, which forces all connections through the Tor network, and they encrypt their data using strong encryption (such as VeraCrypt), making such virtually impossible to view unless one has the passphrase and key files.

In short, not only is JD a pervert but a dumb one.

You know, given that prisoners just love people convicted of sex offenses, and Josh has been convicted for downloading not just CP, but the worst of the worst of CP, I’d love to see how he does in jail.

And I've seen videos about the man who made it. I'd post my Jesse Custer meme, but somehow, that feels inadequate. At least you can take solace in the fact that the man who masterminded it is in prison for the rest of his life and that, somehow, the victim is alive (even if she does have lasting damage, which apparently includes infertility, which may or may not be a blessing, since it's shit like DD that makes me think "look this up and tell me with a straight face that you want to bring more people into the world that created it.")

Here's a week's worth of news about the Duggar:





Some highlights:

• Nobody in the family seems capable of taking a photograph without sporting a shit-eating grin. This may or may not be related to their upbringing.
  
• Jim Bob blatantly lied under oath about how much he knew about what Josh did to his sisters. Or maybe it's a "For Me, It was Tuesday," situation.
  
• At the time he was known to be actively molesting his sisters, Josh was courting the daughter of a family friend. That ended when Jim Bob and Michelle brought their putative in-laws in to talk to them about it. Said attempted  in-laws have since burned their bridges with the family.
  
• There was apparently going to be a trial for the original molestations in 2007, but it fizzled out for some reason.
  
• Cousin Amy claims the rest of the family were kept in the dark about the true extent of the allegations. This may explain why Anna stayed with him, even knowing that she was courting someone who admitted to molesting his sisters. Well, that and her being stuck in a situation where, if she left him, she'd be out of options.
  
• Josh is dumb enough that he apparently texted his wife every time he downloaded CP.
  
• Jim Bob lost his election, third out of four Republican candidates.
  
• Josh liked to watch porn on his phone while driving. Hopefully, it's not CP, but, at least it's not as bad as cooking meth while driving.
  
• When TLC hired a bodyguard for the Duggars, Jim Bob introduced Josh as "The man of the hour" (bear in mind, this was in the wake of the initial molestation allegations coming out.)

All that the above proves is that the Duggars are human beings with human frailties.
