Some highlights:
- Nobody in the family seems capable of taking a photograph without sporting a shit-eating grin. This may or may not be related to their upbringing.
- Jim Bob blatantly lied under oath about how much he knew about what Josh did to his sisters. Or maybe it's a "For Me, It was Tuesday," situation.
- At the time he was known to be actively molesting his sisters, Josh was courting the daughter of a family friend. That ended when Jim Bob and Michelle brought their putative in-laws in to talk to them about it. Said attempted in-laws have since burned their bridges with the family.
- There was apparently going to be a trial for the original molestations in 2007, but it fizzled out for some reason.
- Cousin Amy claims the rest of the family were kept in the dark about the true extent of the allegations. This may explain why Anna stayed with him, even knowing that she was courting someone who admitted to molesting his sisters. Well, that and her being stuck in a situation where, if she left him, she'd be out of options.
- Josh is dumb enough that he apparently texted his wife every time he downloaded CP.
- Jim Bob lost his election, third out of four Republican candidates.
- Josh liked to watch porn on his phone while driving. Hopefully, it's not CP, but, at least it's not as bad as cooking meth while driving.
- When TLC hired a bodyguard for the Duggars, Jim Bob introduced Josh as "The man of the hour" (bear in mind, this was in the wake of the initial molestation allegations coming out.)

I am not. And, frankly, I salute them for having this level of detail devoted to the Duggars' batshittery. And while I occasionally browse certain subs (and never post), the Duggar Snark one ain't one of them. Though it probably should be.
Also, doing a bit of surfing on the subreddit, I found this post, and it turns out the OP has a lot of experience, not only with child custody cases, but with being a CSA/DV survivor, and also a former fundie. So, it's safe to assume she's probably as close as one can be to being familiar with all sides of the "Anna needs to divorce Josh or else she was always complicit" controversy. And her top comment goes into more detail. It turns out that, unless Jim Bob ends up being EXTRMELY supportive of her decision, which I highly doubt will happen, the consequences of leaving would be dire: Anna has no job experience (and thus no income and no paystubs), finding a place for her and her seven kids to stay will be a logistical nightmare (Section 8 has a years-long waiting list, the one emergency family center near her may not hold her for more than a day, most landlords would balk at having to house a family with seven kids even if there was a proper income), and even if she has the gumption to demand child support payments, in practical terms, with the pittance he'd receive from prison work, it'd be about $125/month (I still had a higher income than that when I worked on a stipend at the candy store). And that's not even getting into the level of indoctrination that would have kept her convinced that divorcing him was a sin (and one that, if I understand their reactions to certain sins accurately, might seem even greater than what Josh did to them), and how high the bar would likely have to be if this wasn't enough for her to reach it, and say what Huck Finn once said: "All right then, I'll go to Hell."
I'm currently watching Maid on Netflix, and I suspect that, if it's that difficult for Our Heroine and her daughter to even get a handle on the lowest tier of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, it'll almost certainly be worse for Anna and her brood. About the only leg up they have on them is their fame/notoriety, and, even in the best case scenario, that's not likely to get them far, unless, maybe there's a kickstarter that gives her enough money to get her on her feet, pulls enough strings to get a place for them all to stay, and maybe find a job for Anna.

In the this case, the punishment does not fit the "crime". JD very (very) carelessly downloaded illicit images (which, speaking from a purely hypothetical POV, can be "safely" done using Tails + anonymous public WiFi + Tor Bridges + VeraCrypt with 40 to 60 long passphrase with multiple keyfiles, not doxing oneself, offline viewing with Tails only, secure hardware management, observing the "Silence is Golden" rule, which means invoking the 5th whenever the police approach, etc.), and now, his wife and children have to suffer the lifelong consequences of a man who has not committed any abusive acts over the last decade, so far as anyone knows.
And, so, who are the victims from JD's acts? Will any of them show-up at his sentencing hearing?

I started lurking on the Duggar reddit sub back in May when Josh was arrested. And then didn't look at it for a while until his trial began. They have some good info in there about the Duggars. That family has always fascinated me. Not necessarily in a good way, just in being really curious about them and their extreme way of life.

Look into Danica Dillon. She accused him of sexually abusing her one night back in 2015.
Hasn't been proven, but the accusation is there. Who knows if there are more victims.

Or, for that matter, Jill, Jessa, Jinger, and Joy-Anna, who he molested when he was a teenager. Plus the one anonymous babysitter he also molested.

-all a part of your gods plan for the betterment of those individuals, as you know and have repeatedly insisted.
Honestly, can there ever be enough victims of improvement? Or have you had some change of heart since we last spoke?

Yep, definitely. I just didn't list them because Jeahanne was talking about the last 10 years. But yes. And Joy was 5 when he did what he did to her. 😫

Jehanne, I hope to Hell we're not witnessing a glimpse into a Kadence Pinder situation. I hope to Hell this is just me overreacting to a woman who has A) some pretty radical civil libertarian beliefs, and B) done a terrifying amount of research into how monsters like these work.

I do not look at any porn, licit or otherwise. I have worked in IT for over 30 years, and I have an interest in IT security, and, in particular, elementary number theory (the basis of modern encryption). I also am an advocate of open source software.

My eldest son is in the USAF and wanted to get into the cyber security end of it. His CO didn't want him to go, because he understood that my son didn't have the math, and in fact I told him he didn't. If he wants to try again (unlikely) I'll send him my number theory book and he can work his way through that. Number theory is fun and interesting. I have Oystein Ore's book.
