Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
What AGAIN FNM? And you already know because you've told me so before... His natural and special revelation, the xtian bible being the special kind. I'll mark you down as unsurprised
So god is real because he reveals himself in the bible? You're not serious right?
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Is that all Frodo boils down to? Behind all of the meaningless waffle and "not empirically testable" drivel, his bottom line is "god is true because it says so in the bible, and the bible is true because it is god's word"?
Say it ain't so!

Norfolk: Again you mis-state my position. If you have read any of my posts, you will know that I have consistently argued against interpreting the bible literally. I do not argue that the Bible is the literal word of God, only that science does not preclude his existence. Also, stating my face and arse are positionally inverted is neither helpful or accurate.
Frodo: Allah is the same God as Jahweh etc. just with different prophets interpretations written down as scripture. See The Life of Brian scene involving the shoe and the gourd for a perfect satirical example of how this might happen. You do not find Allah contradictory, your problem is with Islam.

Allah is nothing like God chadster. Allah is also evil, and Islam defines him in this way. The attributes of the two are incompatible, and with Allah self contradictory. Sure Allah was based on the Judaic God but the idea was severely corrupted. The interpretation doesn't work.
I think the Christian god is pretty damn evil too. I know he certainly hates my vagina.

Frodo, look at where Islam comes from. It is the same God, redefined by the words of Mohammed.
