It is unpopular but that doesn't argue for a persons bodily functions to be democritized

I'm saying that the draft ruling is bad because it doesn't take into account the opinions of those who will actually be affected by it. Once you can divorce abstract thought from observable reality (like, for instance, arguing that a right to abortion wasn't a thing until the late 20th century, therefore, it's not a valid right*), you can prove anything. Once you do that, you can argue that other, living, breathing human beings are little more than chattel. You can prove that it's A-OK to keep other races separate just as long as you keep them "separate, but equal." You can prove that the rights of something that's effectively brain-dead and can only survive when physically leeching from another person (which, functionally, is what a fetus is until well into the second trimester) trump the rights of a living, breathing woman every time they come into conflict.
* The fallaciousness of an appeal from tradition aside, it's not even all that accurate, since abortion (at least until the mother first feels the fetus moving) only started to become illegal in 1821.

I've been thinking about this and have decided it needs to be on a bumper sticker and/or a T-shirt.

If they don't do anything about it before the midterms (where they will surely lose their majority in both chambers) I think the younger generations will be hard-pressed to vote D ever again.
Codifying Roe v. Wade would have guaranteed a Republican majority in the next cycle to revoke it. Striking Roe v. Wade down may give Democrats a majority in the midterms and they'll have a mandate to codify it then as well as a chance to hold on to power long enough to make it stick.

It would not have guaranteed Republican majority. How do you figure that? Nearly 70 percent of Americans believe in Roe, and the vast majority of Democrats. Democrats have used abortion as a rallying cry for folks to vote for nearly 50 years! How is letting abortion rights be gutted before the midterms in Democrats' favor? If anything it will be the opposite.

You said it yourself - a whopping great majority of American voters favour access to abortion. There are enough independent voters furious enough over this to vote not-Republican in the fall and shift things towards Democrats (not a guarantee, of course, but a likely scenario). It is certainly going to motivate Democrats to get out and vote.
Codifying Roe v Wade would have nothing at all to keep it from being overturned.

Codifying Roe v. Wade would have been milked for all it was worth to maximize GQP turnout. It's not about who has the majority in the polls, it's about who shows up at the polls. I didn't believe we'd elect someone like Trump right after we elected someone like Obama; but the GQP was more motivated to turn out that year. Abortion hasn't been an effective rallying cry for Democrats because everyone thought abortion rights were protected by the courts.
The GQP has used abortion as a rallying cry for nearly 50 years that has been tremendously effective at getting them money and votes. Getting abortion rights gutted before the midterms actually makes it a MEANINGFUL rallying cry for Democrats, as well as Independents who don't favor abortion bans. If the GQP doesn't pay a price for this ruling, THAT will be a major failure on the part of Democrats.
