"trying to believe" just means you're open to the possibility.

It means no such thing. Even if it did, being ‘open to the possibility’ isn’t nearly enough to keep one out of the Christian hell.

For that matter, neither is simply ‘trying to believe’.

The sizes of faeries and gnomes, et al, is pretty well attested to in the relevant literature. None of them are so small they can’t be seen.

If I stole 10% of the wealth from the 2700 billionaires on the planet and distributed it to the poorest corners of the world and improved their standard of living, would that actually be doing a good thing? I don't mean just giving them cash but actually building housing, infrastructre, health and social care etc etc.

Sure, lifitng people out of poverty would be great for them, but what about the planet? Not sure it would appreciate even more consumerism, extra need for resources and potential population boom / ageing populations.

Please explain your views on how the planet can sustain a couple of billion extra people living a 1st world lifestyle.
