Why Trump will win in 2024.

Fair point - talent and sound judgement will be defeated by pandering and corruption three falls out of three.

You probably wouldn't want an iranian to run on a platform of wiping isreal off the map in an appeal to americas evangelical voters, or vv, either. If he wins, he's CIC of the us military and the button is at his disposal.

Our domestic nuts are the nuts you know, at least - we're predictable in our own fucked up way, lol.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Pool of talent means nothing if the pool of anti-talent is just as large and less circumscribe in asserting itself.    A consistent trend in American political demography from the mid 1960s had been one of the growth of anti-talent at the expense of talent.

But Talent from outside the pool often brings a fresh perspective of the practical strengths and weaknesses of the system obscured from those immersed in the pool from birth.

Sure, we've drained plenty of places of lots of talent for exactly that reason - in labor and in government. There are 535 members of congress, 29 of which were not born here. We have more "fresh perspective" in our government (and in our labor pool) than we do representation of domestic minority demographics, comparatively...and what we have, is a product of that. Fresh Perspective doesn't appear to yield the hoped for benefits. If the president of the US was a member of this fresh perspective, it would just be a +1 to that. Not being born here is not a qualitative or quantitive advantage to performing the job of potus. Granted, neither is being born here, but that's not why we insist that a president be native born, so.

(to be clear, I agree that there's something funny with our insistence, but foreign born talent is not a good argument for that..I'd point to our recent crop of native born traitors as the end all be all argument against such an insistence. Being born here won't stop an asshole from trying to destroy the state, as it might have been imagined once amongst nativist patriots. It provides no protection, just as being from elsewhere provides no benefit.)

Being a talented politician means getting elected, hence, the political term "rat fucking". Now, do you want a rat fucker to be in charge of your nation, state, city, school board, etc.?

If rat fucking means getting elected, when have the rat fuckers NOT been in charge?

Very few of our so called fresh perspective are in any meaningful way fresh.   some of them may not be perspectives that have not previously been strongly represented in government or in elite opinion maker circles.   But that does not change the fact that these are nonetheless still native perspective from inside different parts of the same system and suffer from similar array of blind spots and ill founded presumptions common to native perspectives from inside the same system.

To be blunt, the talent part we need calls for a nonnative perspective.

Outside of American democracy, probably only with the medieval doctrine of primogeniture, but that political system had its own problems.

(I did the whole "libertarian" thing when I realized that the gop had left the place I'm at, until I realized it was a front for legalized racism and a wedge meant to continue gifting the gop with unrepresentative authority.  LOL, I still remember when Hannity was a "libertarian" radio shock jock.)

I too am a recovering libertarian. It sounds nice and well on paper until we actually look at what it entails.

"911, what is your emergency? Do you need police, fire, or ambulance?"
"Fire, the house is burning down, and ambulance, at least one burn victim."
"What's your address?"
"911 Astout Drive. Hurry!"
Fire truck rolls up on the scene. Out jumps the crew chief with a card swiper in hand. "Will this be Mastercard, Visa, AMEX, or Discover? Or do you have a bank card?"
"My wallet's in the house, and so is my wife!"
"Sir, calm down. Can you read and sign this payment agreement?" [Crew chief breaks out phone, swipes a couple of times]
Hurriedly signing the agreement, "Will they be okay?!"
"Sir, the agreement explicitly states that results are not guaranteed."

A month later, the $14000 bill comes in for the cost of operations to extinguish the fire. The wife didn't make it out alive.
