Maybe He Should Get Out More

Quote:A Republican state senator voted against a bill to feed schoolchildren, arguing that hunger wasn't a problem there because he hadn't met anyone without enough food.

Sen. Steve Drazkowski made the remarks on the floor of the Minnesota State Capitol on Tuesday before voting on HF 5, which would provide free school lunch and breakfast for students in the state.

"I have yet to meet a person in Minnesota that is hungry," said Drazkowski. "I have yet to meet a person in Minnesota that says they don't have access to enough food to eat."

Not for nothing, but Steve Drazkowski's net worth is estimated at $5 million. I'm sure the people at his country club and Klan rallies are getting enough to eat.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, US representative and Getting Shit Wrong poster child, insists that her district isn't gerrymandered, because she won both of her primaries. Gerrymandering doesn't affect primary elections.

In an unrelated spew, she also seems to not know that Ukraine is in Europe.

Florida Republican's Bill Would Ban Young Girls From Discussing Their Periods In School

A Florida Republican seeking to restrict sex education for students confirmed in a committee hearing on Wednesday that his bill would also ban young girls from discussing their menstrual cycles with school officials.

Rep. Stan McClain’s ® proposed legislation, House Bill 1069, seeks to restrict the educational materials used in state schools, which critics have likened to book banning. The bill requires course material and instruction on sexually transmitted diseases, health education or material on human sexuality to “only occur in grades 6 through 12,” according to the legislation.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

As a former female student, I don't seem to recall a deep desire to discuss periods, even among friends. As for discussion with school officials, the only example I can think of would be going to the school nurse if in need of supplies or a dark room to lay in and a Tylenol. Back then, that sort of thing was allowed.

Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket?

You know, the sad thing is this is actually good compared to Ben Shapiro’s take on the subject:

Yep. Apparently forcing kids away from their families is better for kids than feeding them
