You are aware that it's easier to spend less when you have less to spend, right?

Texas Senate Moves To Shut Down Renewable Energy Permanently

Texas Republicans in the Senate are hoping to permanently cripple the renewable energy industry in the state with amendments on a must-pass bill.

For years, solar and wind energy in Texas has been helped along by generous subsidies and public support. In fact, Texas now produces more wind energy than any other state in the nation, thanks partially to support from official channels.

That started to change once renewable energy began to challenge the supremacy of fossil fuels. Renewable energy, which is far cheaper to produce, accounted for more than a quarter of the state’s electricity last year. That’s more than a 2,000 percent increase since 2022.

It’s unsurprising considering that much of the Republican Party in Texas is guided by the Texas Public Policy Foundation, itself funded by two Texas oil and gas moguls. The TPPF has repeatedly lobbied against accountability for fossil fuel generators and overstated the dangers of renewable power.

Georgia GOP Chair Goes Full Flat-Earth, Says Globes Are Part of a Conspiracy

A recently elected GOP District Chair in Georgia, would like to know why Big Globe won’t stop shoving round-Earth propaganda down our throats.

In an interview with David Weiss (AKA “Flat Earth Dave”) and Matt Long on her “Jesus, Guns, and Babies” podcast, Taylor and her guests discussed biblical “evidence” that the Earth is actually flat as a pancake. “The people that defend the globe don’t know anything about the globe,” said Weiss. “If they knew a tenth of what Matt and I know about the globe they would be Flat Earthers.”

“All the globes, everywhere” Taylor said later in the discussion. “I turn on the TV, there’s globes in the background … Everywhere there’s globes. You see them all the time, it’s constant. My children will be like ‘Mama, globe, globe, globe, globe’ — they’re everywhere.”

“That’s what they do, to brainwash,” she added. “For me if it’s not a conspiracy. If it is real, why are you pushing so hard everywhere I go? Every store, you buy a globe, there’s globes everywhere. Every movie, every TV show, news media — why? More and more I’m like, it doesn’t make sense.”

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Yeah, the way the sun keeps switching itself on and off is what makes solar power a bad idea.

Lauren Boebert says President Biden's plan to fight antisemitism is a plot 'to go after conservatives'

Quote: The Biden administration announced the National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism to protect Jewish communities across the US this week.

Biden released a video about the new strategy, saying hate has been "given too much oxygen" in recent years and has fuelled a "record rise in antisemitism."

But Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert denounced the plan in a tweet to her 2.5 million followers: "When they say stuff like this, they mean they want to go after conservatives."

The gun-rights activist described the newly-announced "tactics" —which include encouraging social media companies to tackle antisemitism and to "build cross-community solidarity" — as "straight out of the USSR's playbook."

Renewables are unreliable and batteries are expensive (though the cost isn’t really the worst issue on that front).

As for solar, or any other renewable, being 10 times more expensive. Even if that were so, utility providers are installing more renewables because they’re more profitable than fossil fuel plants.

That the profit motive has flipped in their favor ensures a veritable mountain of renewables coming down the pipe, and many of the concerning things about them that have very much been swept under the rug in order to build support for greater deployment will soon become the most pressing issue of our time.
