Mass shooting in the middle school Vladislav Ribnikar in Belgrade
RE: Mass shooting in the middle school Vladislav Ribnikar in Belgrade
Great, things are usually not exactly as they appear.   Instead things are what you say they are regardless of how they appear.

I don't think things are usually exactly what they appear to be. The Earth appears to be a flat disk, but it really isn't. Airplanes seem to be mythological entities like dragons, but they are nevertheless real.

How could morality not be a factor in gun violence?

Look around you. Things that appear to be rocks generally are. If you see a big barky-leafy-woody thing sprouting up out of the ground, it’s usually a tree.

But I was referring specifically to your habit of doubting the bleeding obvious - the battle of Vukovar, school shootings, the idea that a retired cop could be prone to violence, and so on. Skepticism is all well and good, but carrying it to extremes makes you look like a fuckwit.

I said morality is not ‘necessarily’ a factor in gun violence. There are people who put bullets into other people with no moral consideration at all, and there are other who do so for what - to the shooters, at least - are highly moral reasons. It’s a wash.

Well, as many news outlets, including AlJazeera, note, we had three "mass" shootings in three days here in Croatia. And many media outlets, including the centre-right RTL Danas, are pushing for more gun control. Well, the UK has a much tougher gun control laws than Croatia has, and such "mass" shooting are so common in the UK they don't even make into the news.

If these mass shootings in the UK don't make the news, how do you know about them?

Again, a reputable source?

I thought statistics make it clear Croatia is far safer than the UK.

I don't know now. This infographic was circulating the Croatian media about a month ago:

You think Croatia somehow gives people a false sense of safety?

Your graphic shows a feeling. My link gives actual numbers of people murdered by firearms. Do you understand the difference?

Yes, but I expected the feeling of safety and the actual safety to be strongly correlated.
