They don't understand much. One might begin to think it's intentional at some point.

What they don’t understand is that Trump’s free speech is being curtailed (not by enough, IMHO) because he is not a free individual. He is a criminal defendant on conditional release. This partial gag order is one of those conditions.

First Amendment is a restraint on lawmakers banning speech. A judge in your own trial can tell you to shut the fuck up for any reason at all.

I have to agree with all of you. The people supporting him and saying he should have first amendment rights even as a criminal do not seem well educated or well informed. I do not know what kind of education they have at this time, but it is rather poor.
That said, I wonder why Trump is the leading candidate among the other republican candidates running for president, other than republicans being republicans?

He does have 1A rights even as a criminal. They simply don't extend to intimidation and harassment. They wouldn't even if he weren't on trial. Any rate, when you're picking fights with a judge you aren't exactly trying to win.

Trump's supporters live in an echo chamber that sustains itself. They don't see unfiltered counterpoints. They eschew dissent. They feed on grievance. An ebb tide lowers all boats. They're happy if discussion gets dragged to their level. They're not savvy enough to see through Trump's lies. They prefer the story to reality. They hope they get to watch as it all burns to the ground.
