RE: The Last Movie You Watched
Just got my copy of "Tora, Tora, Tora"! I first saw it in the movies in the '70s.

There wasn't much to do in my hometown.  I was in high school when "Tora, Tora, Tora" finally made it to our old theater.  I went 'cause there was nothing else to do.  They showed reel one.  Then they showed reel two.  By then I had already been in the theater longer than I ever had for a single movie.  Then the projectionist put in reel one again.  I was done then.  Have never seen the whole movie.

It's fairly accurate. The "terrible resolve" thing was made up to give the US audience an bit of an upbeat ending.

The guy playing Robin did a very good job recreating such a versatile person that it was almost like watching an actual Robin Williams movie. It's also interesting how many famous people they recreated, especially John Belushi who seemed to be this dark presence in his life - like a stone around his neck.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Quote:The four and 1/4 hour depiction of the historical and personal events surrounding and including the decisive American civil war battle features thousands of civil war re-enactors marching over the exact ground that the federal army and the army of North Virginia fought on. The defense of the Little Round Top and Pickett's Charge are highlighted in the actual three day battle which is surrounded by the speeches of the commanding officers and the personal reflections of the fighting men. And the day after that....
