well well wel, as European I was opposed to the Iraq war, it was clear it was baseless and that without Saddam Iraq would have slipped into chaos.
I really, until today, do not understand how the US could get away with that without consequences. A country invaded and destroyed based on fake proofs of weapon of mass destruction.
The same is with Gheddafi's Lybia, a country I know very well.
I do not like dictators, but we must admit that democracy is something people want to have, not something it is delivered to them. Because 2 iraqis think that in democracy, if they disagree, they can shoot each other with a AK-47, conversely we westerners think that if we disagree we just discuss until we find a compromise

I think that conflict had more to do with Iraq being constantly belligerent and uncooperative, violating no-fly zones, invading Kuwait, and they gave no indication they were going to quit undermining regional stability.

Beside the jokes, I do not think that we can settle the wrong done in the past with leaving Ukraine. As European, I have many Ukranianasn and also russians in my network, some refugees are also in my daughters school classes etc.
What we should do in Ukraine is to freeze the situation as it is with a temporary ceasefire and staert to negotiate which bit of land should go to whom, as simple as that.
At the moment, from the Russia-Ukraine war only Europe is losing, and on top of that NATO should bomb Ukraine, not Russia. That is because Ukraine destroyed the Northstream 2, a vital energy infrastructure to a NATO member (Germany). If we follow the NATO rules, a non NATO country bombed a vital infrastructure thus NATO needs to attack the country that destroyed the infrastructure...

If Trump wins there will certainly be work to do. We're all aware of who will be vulnerable and what the Dems will need to focus on. Women's rights, trans rights, humane treatment of immigrants. These things will need urgent attention.

If Trumps wins, there will be more than work to do. Active defense of minorities will be required as the man's bigotries will be given the power of government organs and the imprimatur of a court that has abandoned Constitutionality in favor of enabling executive power at any cost. Of course, not living here, you may be unaware that the Democrats are already giving those demographics under attack their "urgent attention", but they are.

Negotiating with fascists dictators only emboldens them. Europe should increase help to Ukraine so it can fuck up this "Upper Volta with rockets" properly and made sure it will be to weak to even think about aggression in the future.
