A joke does not affect productivity - going to HR and causing internal strife does.

Seems to me like getting rid of the problem of thin skin would be far easier, and they are just as irreplicable as anyone else.

Seems to me thin skin isn’t your issue, the color of the skin is.

His point doesn't even make sense 

1. The only strife it would produce is the assholes vs the non assholes and who gives a damn about what assholes are mad about

2. It's not being thin skinned to not want bigotry in the work place and no it would be easier for people not to be assholes at work in the first place and they are assholes give them the boot 

3. This persists the delusion the assholes are the productive workers.

Nope, but I swear I've been to my local Klan rally and there were less people obsessed with skin color than you people.

It's not the speech that is harassment but the behavior.

You know as well as I do that animosity is expressed in many ways. But I'd regard the verbal expression of bigotry to be harassment. But what do I know? I was only a business manager for twenty years.

Forgive my disagreement, but it seems clear that restrictions against thing like racist jokes and bigoted speech seem like impositions to TWM. Why else would he be arguing so vigorously against them?

It's interesting your head goes straight to racist jokes, when the reality is that "HR" has been employed by a variety of individuals and occasionally small moments to engage in acts of revenge against co-workers, intimidate and harass co-workers, and allowed a social class of non-productive cretins to exploit actual suffering in minority communities for their own gain, their own grift.

But sure, the racist jokes being taken away also sucks.

HR is there precisely because people insist on being douchebags. If you really hate HR, stop arguing for the right to harass your coworkers.

It's been my experience that people most willing to call out bigotry in the office are the most productive because they want to keep things professional and no time for douchebags, and the idea it's those people who are causing the strife because they upset the bigot in the office is absurd.

Because a welcoming work environment creates happy, comfortable, satisfied employees. People with a positive frame of mind are always more productive. People who are openly bigoted in the workplace drag other people down and decrease productivity.

This is an ‘everybody knows’ thing.
