But you see Putin respects Trump.................................................
What's amazing is how weak Trump is, that Putin is willing to humiliate Trump and demonstrate this by ignoring his entreaties for a ceasefire- and Trump says nothing because he is either so intimidated by Putin or is secretly on his payroll.
Which case matters, when the results are the same?

Intimidation only lasts so long, but being bought off probably lasts longer. Of course, Trump may well be bough off precisely because he's been intimidated and is now beartrapped.

Detailed article here from the NYTimes, detailing the extent to which the US participated in the war. They weren't just shipping weapons, they were picking targets, planning strategy.

It was the US fighting Russia, with Ukrainians doing the dying part.
The reporters have clearly talked to some high-level people. Now that the war is winding down, they will be looking to assign blame.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Same for the people of Luhansk, Donetsk, and various russian mercenary groups. Oh, talking about Russians...ethnic Russians are a small minority of all russian casualties. Want to guess which parts of the overall population of Russia are over and which under-represented again? Want to make a guess for what reason?
You forgot to mention all of this? One starts to wonder why.........or maybe not.

Quote:President Trump said he is “very angry” and “pissed off” at remarks Russian President Vladimir Putin made Friday about Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, suggesting he is not a legitimate leader.
The president threatened to slap a new tariff on Russia if it is at fault for stalling an end “to bloodshed.”
“If I feel, if we’re in the midst of a negotiation, you could say that I was very angry, pissed off, when Putin said yesterday that — you know, when Putin started getting into Zelensky’s credibility, because that’s not going in the right location, you understand?” Trump told NBC News’s Kristen Welker during a phone interview on Sunday.
The Russian president said Friday that his Ukrainian counterpart does not have the legitimacy required for a peace deal signature and suggested an interim government is needed, The Associated Press reported. Ukraine’s 2024 presidential elections were postponed due to martial law amid the war with Russia.
Putin said any agreement signed on to by Ukraine’s government could receive pushback.
“Under the auspices of the United Nations, with the United States, even with European countries, and, of course, with our partners and friends, we could discuss the possibility of introduction of temporary governance in Ukraine,” he said Friday, according to the AP, later saying that “democratic elections, to bring to power a viable government that enjoys the trust of the people, and then begin negotiations with them on a peace treaty” would be able to happen via the temporary governance.

1) We only have about $3.6b in trade with Russia. What the fuck is a tariff going to solve?
2) I'm shocked, nay, gobsmacked that @ Belacqua has not mentioned anything about how Russia is dragging its feet on any peace agreement even as he accuses the Ukrainians and Americans of wanting to keep fighting.

Putin could show up at the peace treaty signing, burn the peace treaty , give a Nazi salute, declare himself the second coming of Hitler, say he wants to kill everyone in Ukraine and then wage a war of Lebensraum across Europe to bathe in the blood of European children and somehow Bel would make this the wests fault
