Trump is demanding Harvard become a vassal institution. There will be no free speech or academic freedom rights, and there will be ideological litmus tests for who gets hired or admitted.

Not only do these demands ignore the process for adjudicating alleged Title VI violations, they are fundamentally at odds with the First Amendment.

The feds cannot condition federal funding on a private university giving up its First Amendment rights.

House GOP approves bill to restrict the reach of US judges

As the article says, the bill won't pass in the Senate.  So I guess House Republicans are just playing to their base (and Trump).

However, the trend is very alarming.  Trump will likely take it as yet another excuse to defy court orders.  Then we really do have a Constitutional Crisis.

Didn't we do that already and look where it got us?  

I assume Trump will be impeached at least a third time, if and when Democrats regain control of the House.  

It seems unlikely he will ever be removed from office by the Senate.  But Democrats have to take a stand somewhere.

I fear that the only thing that will stop him is some rogue gunman with decent aim.  Of course, that will make him a martyr for the MAGAts so it will be same shit different day.
