Canadian Politician Thanks Donald Trump

A Canadian politician has finally said something nice about President Donald Trump… sort of.

Retiring Ontario MP and member of the New Democratic Party Charlie Angus appeared on the MeidasTouch podcast this weekend, and surprised everyone by taking the time to thank the U.S. president for his work in bringing Canadians together.

Delivering his speech to host Ben Meiselas, Angus said, “Donald Trump, I’m going to say this once—and I might never say it again—I want to thank you. I want to thank you for bringing Canada together.”

He continued, “It took a malignant narcissistic slug like you to make us put aside all our differences—all our regional fights, all our concerns with one another—and realize we actually had to stand up for something better: standing up for the rule of law, for democracy, for decency.”

Trump denies aid for Arkansas after storms that killed more than 40 people

Donald Trump has denied federal disaster relief funds to the people of Arkansas, which saw dozens of people die from a series of deadly tornados last month, so legislators are pleading for him to reconsider.

More than 40 people have been found dead after a series of tornados and severe storms hit Arkansas and neighboring states Mississippi and Missouri in March, according to CNN.

Given the scale of the disaster, the state’s Republican governor, Sarah Huckabee, requested federal disaster aid as apart of an emergency declaration. That request was later denied by the Trump administration.

The latest denial of disaster funding comes as Trump has repeatedly stated that he wants to overhaul and eliminate Fema.

Trumpleforeskin has apparently decided that third term, or president for life, or His Royal Majesty, or whatever fucking form his attempt to seize, consolidate, and remain in power takes, no longer requires the support of his base. Red states, where his most ardent knob gobblers come from are, and will continue, to suffer the brunt of his idiocy. The only faint hope I see is that he shits on them too hard, too fast, and enough of our democracy survives to flip the house and senate so we can impeach and convict the mother fucker. I don't think it will happen, but that faint hope remains, at least for now.

When Tariffs Backfire

President Donald Trump's tariffs just cost America a chunk of Canadian business.

Subaru, which sold 68,043 cars in Canada in 2024, is reshuffling its supply chain in response to escalating car trade scuffles. 

The company sold over 17,700 American-built vehicles in Canada last year, making up 26 percent of its 2024 sales. 
But the Japanese automaker’s Canadian division will slash US imports to just 10 percent by the 2026 model year, representing thousands of cars and millions of dollars lost. 

Essentially, Subarus built in the US and sold in Canada will now be built in Japan and sold in Canada, bypassing Trump's 25% tariffs. Canada wins, Japan wins, the US loses.
