It occurred to me some time ago, that John was simply making up more and more outrageous lies, in the hope everyone would stop challenging his nonsense, so he could slink quietly away and pretend that he'd had the last word. 

I could be wrong of course, unlike John, I am capable of doubt.

As far as the thread title question goes, well we have at least one religious apologists answer, he believes Jesus is a deity, because he don't base beliefs on evidence, and thinks subjective beliefs are just as reliable. 

I'd love to see him debate a flat earther, it might be quality entertainment.

There's a reason why falsification is the gold standard in science and not confirmation. Take a wild guess which is used synonymously with evidence.

Falsification requires the same objective standard...bro. and the reason science celebrates falsification is because we have learned that something isn't true. According to you human brains don't care about truth...
