Noteworthy News
RE: Noteworthy News
I was a libertarian for 20 years and thought there wasn't a dime's worth of difference between the two major parties, but the difference kept growing. Eventually i learned the voting for the least fascist option that has a good chance of winning is the most effective way to prevent the most fascist option from REALLY ruining my country. Of course, so far, my success rate has only been 50/50. Four years ago I voted for the less fascist option that stood a real chance and got Biden, this time the most fascist one won anyway.

My reasoning is simpler - I don't vote for people who are even slightly fascist. One vote is meaningless either way, it can't hinder or help fascists but my conscience remains clear and that it all that matter. What other will chose to do is up to them.

I used to feel the same way. My conscience was clear as long as I didn't vote or only voted for someone I didn't have reservations about. I'm only one person and my vote won't make a difference anyway. Especially in the USA where your vote doesn't matter unless you live in a swing state. But when Trump was elected in 2016, I found that my conscience didn't feel clear just because I didn't vote for him. YMMV.

If I don't vote on fascist I can't be blamed for fascist victory. For me it is simple as that. Politicians might cry about how they're owed my vote on account of not being worst but they can blow me, provided they clean their filthy cock sucking orifices before.

ETA: I despise voting on "lesser evil" and see it as a cancer that allows politicians to do jack shit. No one is owed votes, especially cunts flirting with far right and acting surprised when people with morals don't vote on them.

And it's not the same for everyone.

Here I am at 15 years after being told I probably had three.  It's a crap shoot.

I’ve read that Biden’s cancer - even at an aggressive stage 5 - had a good survival rate for someone his age.

But let’s face it - he’s 82. He’s got more years behind him than ahead of him.

Indeed.  I know the feeling...sigh.

It's just too bad he waited until after the primary season.

But he wasn’t diagnosed pre-election. If US political parties are going to encourage presidents to step down based on future health outcomes, there’s no point in having a president at all.

People were right to urge Biden to withdraw from the race, but it had nothing to do with his cancer.

Boru

He was encouraged to step aside because of his age.  At his age, life-threatening health issues are not uncommon and can come up suddenly.

I thought his sell-by date was 2016. I didn't like the idea of him running in 2020 for reasons of age, and caught shit for that from Dom over at the other forum for being ageist, but I stand by this opinion. I understand why he didn't run in 2016, and respect him for it, but yeah -- when you're well into your 70s, I think stepping aside and providing advice and wisdom is better than putting yourself into an incredibly stressful job.

I suspect the nation will learn this before too long, given Trump's age, mental decline, and potential physical issues.

I've mentioned elsewhere -- there's a Constitutional minimum age to attain the Presidency, and I think there should be a maximum age as well, for the reasons in discussion: physical health and mental decline. It's not ageism, it's an acknowledgement of reality. Death and debility are directly correlated with age, and at the upper 70s you're at the small end of the bell curve.

This type of cancer needs testosterone to sustain itself. In the past castration was the recommended treatment in men Biden's age. Now there are testosterone blocking drugs that have shown good results in slowing the progression of the disease.

Another big drop in US markets, but this one isn’t due to tariffs. It’s a direct result of the country’s downgraded credit rating - America is no longer viewed as a safe place to invest.

That’s going to be a helluva lot harder to fix than the tariff thing.
