Let's bet on it then. Do you have venmo or PayPal? If I find you the answer you send me $50.
Chump change. You find the answer and I’ll send you $50 000.

How old is it as pig iron—a year. How old is it as a vase—a day.

The world is 4.54 billion years old. Why would any sane person accept your literal interpretation of fable over modern science?

Too much goes out the window if John admits that "inspired by God" can be false.
It's psychology, or the sunk-cost fallacy if you prefer.

But that’s not an answer to what I asked you. At best, it’s an evasion (it’s also factually incorrect, but that’s a different kettle of a horse of another colour). When aswering a hypothetical, the respondent is not permitted to add clauses of his own.
I’ll keep my money, because I don’t pay off on bets I win. And my mental health is fine - I have the discharge papers to prove it.

How was there night and day, without the sun?

Your full question was If I have a batch of raw pig iron sitting in my shop for a year, and use it to make a vase today, how old is the vase?
My answer was clear and direct. Why put yourself in such an awkward position lol?

But I didn’t ask how old the pig iron was (which you got wrong, btw). Pig iron is not a vase.
My position is perfectly comfortable, thank you for asking.
