I played it on a 45 in my garage "discotheque" in 1970, when I was 12 going on 13, then played the living crap out of the album (went through two vinyl copies, and eventually got it on CD too.) It's kind of shattering when the hits we listened to as kids start showing up on the oldies stations. Boru

Well, I'm a kinda down to Earth atheist.
Mostly. Well, occasionally. Sometimes. When people aren't looking... ...but I'm NOT good. Damn, I got a shiver writing the "g" word! Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???"
The best atheists are the ones who don't ring my doorbell at 7:00 AM, armed with enough pamphlets to clog an industrial shredder, asking me if I've heard the good news, and wanting to know if I have a minute to talk about Richard Dawkins.
I don't much care what your beliefs or non-beliefs are, you'll always get points for not pestering me about them. Boru

It seems like circular reasoning, it also looks like a No true Scotsman fallacy, and it is a little vague, and confusing. For example an atheist is anyone who lacks belief in any deity or deities, so measuring how one might be better than another based solely on atheism seems arbitrary, how for example is someone "with no illusions or pretensions; practical and realistic." (or down to earth) a better atheist than someone lacking those characteristics, better how, and in what way, how is atheism relevant at all? |
