President Trump has called it "one of the most important cases in the history of our country."
If the tariffs are invalidated, the U.S. government could owe tens of billions of dollars of refunds to businesses that have paid them. Such an outcome could also eliminate a primary bargaining chip that Trump has used in negotiations with other countries.
A decision upholding the tariffs would cement an expansive new exercise of presidential power and preserve a cornerstone of Trump’s agenda that economists estimate could boost some U.S. manufacturing in the long run but cost American families an average of more than $1,700 this year alone in higher prices.

What the fake-ass media doesn't want you to see:
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Early reports are that the conservative end of the bench appears skeptical about the regime’s arguments. Time will tell.

This the same Trump that told Walmart to eat the extra money that the tariffs cost their merch?

Thank fuck. Because that can only end one way: with another Iraq right at our doorstep. And even more refugees from Mexico than we have now.

Just as well. I don’t much fancy the US military’s chances against drug cartels.

Indeed. They have a proven disregard for the rules of engagement and human life.

So, fun fact: if you've watched Breaking Bad, you remember the scene where Hank almost arrests Walt. (And if you haven't, you're either under 16 or need to watch 49 hours, 55 minutes of content on Netflix yesterday).
Something very similar happened with one of El Chapo's sons a few years ago. The differences:
- the ambush on the Federales was entirely planned on Sonny Boy's part
- This escalated to an entire neighbourhood declaring war on the Mexican Government.
- The Mexican Government lost said war in the span of a few hours
- As a result, the Federales had to let him go, and this was a decision that even the President of Mexico had to defend publicly.
This is how powerful they are. America historically hasn't had very good luck with guerrilla warfare (at least since the end of the Indian Wars, and even that was at least partly due to chicanery that I can't imagine the cartels falling for), so when the enemy is this powerful, the only endgames that make sense are A: America eventually folds and has a massive humanitarian crisis on the other side of the border to deal with, and B: A Final Solution. It should go without saying that neither A nor B are good options.
It’s possible that there might potentially be bigger potential foreign policy fuck-ups for America that don’t involve nuclear exchange, but I doubt it.

Not to mention that the US doesn’t exactly have a stellar record when it comes to waging a guerrilla war in a jungle.

In fairness, guerrilla forces (especially when sufficiently powerful or popular among the surrounding populace) tend to be very hard to defeat, unless you’re down for genocide.
