He will get both on Friday after one of the most misjudged weeks of his two presidencies, after his own choices eroded his political authority over the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Trump is embroiled in a bitter new feud with Democrats over national security, provocative rhetoric and presidential power that he deliberately turned nuclear. And at a White House meeting Friday, he’ll go head-to-head with the next mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist he’s planning to brand as the unacceptable “communist” face of the Democratic Party next year.

Judge Rules Against DC Deployment

A federal judge ruled Thursday that President Donald Trump’s deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., was illegal, concluding he lacks authority to send in troops “for the deterrence of crime.”

U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb said that while Trump may be the commander in chief of the Guard, his power is constrained by federal laws that limit how those troops can be federalized and deployed, particularly in Washington, D.C., which is controlled by Congress.

“The Court rejects Defendants’ fly-by assertion of constitutional power, finding that such a broad reading of the President’s Article II authority would erase Congress’s role in governing the District and its National Guard,” Cobb wrote in a 61-page ruling.

Turns out the deal Trump bragged about, the one where China would buy 12 million metric tons of US soybeans by year end, was only a concept of a deal.

New data released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture created serious doubts about whether China will really buy millions of bushels of American soybeans like the Trump administration touted last month after a high-stakes meeting between President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

The USDA report released after the government reopened showed only two Chinese purchases of American soybeans since the summit in South Korea that totaled 332,000 metric tons.

That’s well short of the 12 million metric tons that Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said China agreed to purchase by January and nowhere near the 25 million metric tons she said they would buy in each of the next three years.

American farmers were hopeful that their biggest customer would resume buying their crops. But CoBank’s Tanner Ehmke, who is its lead economist for grains and oilseed, said there isn’t much incentive for China to buy from America right now because they have plenty of soybeans on hand that they have bought from Brazil and other South American countries this year, and the remaining tariffs ensure that U.S. soybeans remain more expensive than Brazilian beans.

The Trump Mobile phone is nowhere to be found after months of delay

In June, President Donald Trump’s two older sons held an event at Trump Tower where they touted a new made-in-the-USA mobile phone with an American flag on its back, plus a new wireless service called Trump Mobile.

The phone was announced on the 10th anniversary of Trump’s presidential campaign launch and was the Trump brand’s first foray into mobile products and services. According to the initial announcement, the phone was supposed to be released in August.

But three months later, there are no signs that the phone has become a reality.

NBC News placed an order for a T1 phone in August, paying the $100 deposit for the purposes of tracking the $499 phone’s development.

But the company provided no proactive updates after the order. NBC News made five separate phone calls to the Trump Mobile customer support line between September and November. At one point in October, the call operator promised a specific ship date: Nov. 13.

That date passed without an update, and when NBC News followed up with the call center, an operator said the delivery would now be in the “beginning of December,” with no specific date.

The operator cited the government shutdown as a reason for the delay, without further explanation.

Trump Mobile launched the T1 phone in tandem with a number of phone service offerings, including a 5G service plan priced at $47.45 per month — a nod to the president’s terms. In addition to unlimited talk, text and data, the plan promised “telehealth services, including virtual medical care.”

But since the original announcement, plans appear to be in flux. Quiet edits to the Trump Mobile website suggest that details around the phone’s design and production may have changed since it was announced.

The Trump Mobile website has scrubbed any mention of a specific release month, but continues to collect $100 down payments on the promise of availability “later this year.”

ICE Barbie May Be In Trouble

The Justice Department said Tuesday that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was the Trump administration official behind the decision not to comply with a federal judges order to halt the deportation of alleged Venezuelan gang members to El Salvador under the Alien Enemies Act.

It comes after Boasberg said he wanted to revive criminal contempt proceedings against administration officials who authorized the deportation flights.

Sounds like the DOJ is looking to throw Noem under the bus.
