Trump's utter lack of empathy marks him as a sociopath. That his supporters still follow him tells me that they're either sociopaths or dolts.

I shudder to think that there might be that many sociopaths or idiots in this country ... but here we are.

This isn't even just a lack of empathy at this point. He actually attributed Rob Reiner's death to his daring to criticise Trump publicly. We're in legitimate God complex territory at this point.

You know, I was checking to see if anyone was commenting on his brazenly partisan "Presidential Walk of Fame" (the one where he replaced Biden's portrait with an autopen), maybe wondering if the next Democratic president would continue the tradition and replace one of Trump's second term with a picture of Hitler. But with this, I think replacing him with Caligula would be a better fit.

I think it is exactly about a lack of empathy, and how so many Americans are buying into that. You're right that there's a narcissistic complex happening, but to me more worrying is that so many people value their own opinions more than they value basic decency.

It's not even just a lack of empathy or narcissism (even though both are pretty obvious to anyone who isn't too busy gooning to the thought of his mushroom).  When I said "God Complex," I meant that in about as literal a sense as is possible. He's saying Rob Reiner died as a direct result of his criticism of Trump. So Rob Reiner got smote down. This is the mentality of an ancient God. It translated in my mind as "Say that you believe you are literally a god without saying you believe you are literally a god."

So we aren't in complete agreement. Don't trip. My opinion is in fact my opinion. I understood what you meant. I just don't agree with all of it.
