They said she was pulled from the front not the back door, they also said the man reached through the window and pulled her free. Question is how did the window go down then close again when the electrical systems could not operate after the battery went under the water, dead short, nothing should work. This is an interesting event, not sure if it's a miracle by God, but as far as I can tell it is mysterious.

Clearly the man was reaching just beneath him which must mean it was the back door, as the front door was a good 2 metres below him by then.

Yes, the battery was dead. Logically we can conclude the windows couldn't have opened. So the conclusion must be that she opened the door.

If the door was opened then where is the large air bubbles that would have been released, and if it were the back door it would have raised up and blocked him from reaching her, the guy in front of him would be the one who had access. He said he reached through the window.

That would of been a short film if it was.

The bubbles wouldn't have been released when the door was open. If air is still inside the car then you physically cannot open the door because the pressure is not balanced. This means the water pressure makes it humanly impossible to open the door then.

Water molecules would have seeped in just like the smell of sea salt (i.e. molecules) from the beach reaches your nose even when the windows are down (I'm not sure where you live but here in Australia that's what I observe). This is why I believe the car would have filled up with water. In saying that though, I did not see any bubbles, but I think it's unreasonable to say that the car was perfectly sealed because no car in my experience has been able to keep the smell of sea salt (or a fire i.e. the smoke from a bush fire) out of the car. Therefore the car must have filled up with water, whether we saw bubbles or not.

The car was perpendicular to the ground. Opening the back door i.e. the passenger door wouldn't block anyone as it would have opened to the side and downwards. I should have clarified I meant the passenger door and not the boot.

The water was murky so I'm not sure how he knows where he reached through. The gap of an open window and the gap of an open door feel the same; it's a gap, there's nothing there.

The water was very murkey. I don't know how the rescuer could have known for certain he was reaching through a window. Most likely he was mistaken. If the car had filled up like it did in the mythbusters video, then there should not have been any bubbles. Were there any bubbles in the mythbusters video?

OK with the passenger door the water would have had to fill the SUV before the door would open and no air bubbles would be released. Someone needs to ask the woman what happened, she's the only one who could know if she was not to panic.

Oddly just last night I was re-reading God Is Not Great ( you should try it, G-C, you could learn a lot) and got to the part where he deals with the so-called "miracles" of "Mother" Teresa.

Quote:In June of 2001 I was invited by the Vatican to testify at a hearing on the beatification of Agnes Bojaxhiu, an ambitious Albanian nun who had become well-known under the nom de guerre of "Mother Teresa." Although the then pope had abolished the famous office of "Devil's Advocate," the better to confirm and canonize an enormous number of new "saints," the church was still obliged to seek testimony from critics, and thus I found myself representing the devil, as it were, pro bono.

I had already helped expose one of the "miracles" connected with the work of this woman. The man who originally made her famous was a distinguished if rather silly British evangelist (later a Catholic) named Malcolm Muggeridge. It was his BBC documentary, Something Beautiful for God, which launched the "Mother Teresa" brand on the world in 1969. The cameraman for this film was a man named Ken Macmillan, who had won high praise for his work on Lord dark's great art history series. Civilisation. His understanding of color and lighting was of a high order. Here is the story as Muggeridge told it, in the book that accompanied the film:

[Mother Teresa's] Home for the Dying is dimly lit by small windows high up in the walls, and Ken [Macmillan] was adamant that filming was quite impossible there. We only had one small light with us, and to get the place adequately lighted in the time at our disposal was quite impossible. It was decided that, nonetheless, Ken should have a go, but by way of insurance he took, as well, some film in an outside courtyard where some of the inmates were sitting in the sun. In the processed film, the part taken inside was bathed in a particularly beautiful soft light, whereas the part taken outside was rather dim and confused.... I myself am absolutely convinced that the technically unaccountable light is, in fact, the Kindly Light that Cardinal Newman refers to in his well-known exquisite hymn.

He concluded that This is precisely what miracles are for—to reveal the inner reality of God's outward creation. I am personally persuaded that Ken recorded the first authentic photographic miracle. ... I fear I talked and wrote about it to the point of tedium.

He was certainly correct in that last sentence: by the time he had finished he had made Mother Teresa into a world-famous figure. My contribution was to check out and put into print the direct verbal testimony of Ken Macmillan, the cameraman himself. Here it is:

During Something Beautiful for God, there was an episode where we were taken to a building that Mother Teresa called the House of the Dying. Peter Chafer, the director, said, "Ah well, it's very dark in here. Do you think we can get something?" And we had just taken delivery at the BBC of some new film made by Kodak, which we hadn't had time to test before we left, so I said to Peter, "Well, we may as well have a go." So we shot it. And when we got back several weeks later, a month or two later, we are sitting in the rushes theater at Ealing Studios and eventually up come the shots of the House of the Dying. And it was surprising. You could see every detail. And I said, "That's amazing. That's extraordinary." And I was going to go on to say, you know, three cheers for Kodak. I didn't get a chance to say that though, because Malcolm, sitting in the front row, spun around and said: "It's divine light! It's Mother Teresa. You'll find that it's divine light, old boy."

So...not "god" but Kodak!

Water rushes in, chick gets out.

You can't explain that!

Seriously, cars are not water tight at all. Once the pressure equalizes, opening the door is trivial.

I dive shipwrecks. If not rusted shut, you can open a closed hatch at any depth, as long as both compartments are flooded. A very small pressure differential not in your favor screws you hard.

No miracle. It's physics. Science. It works, bitches.

Yes that might be the best idea. There is a possibility that the woman was in such a mental state that she may not remember how she got out (this does happen) but it's still a good idea to question her.

On another note, diving shipwrecks, that's some cool shit. I bet you've seen some neat stuff.

Here is the intro to the video: "No one at this scene can explain how this woman was able to be rescued. It defies everything we know, and it can only be seen as a miracle of God. Watch how it happens and let us know what you think."

I'm sure I'm a little late on this one and this has already been said, but it's pretty obvious. The door opened after enough water flooded in to equalize pressure. On a side note, anybody find it funny that the miracle is that God closed the window?
