Its not like the worlds a sentient being trying to trick me or an optical illusion. Makes no sense whatsoever. Does he mean trust in reality? Because that'd be even more absurd.

No one has tricked me into my belief in God, that was a personal choice I made for myself. I also do not go around asking or telling people what to believe, I will if it comes up tell people about Jesus, but I do not put them on a guilt trip, I witness as Christ asked us to, the rest is up to God, I can not save anyone. Once someone has made a choice to follow God I will help them understand the life they have chosen. As for restricted thought, you have no idea what freedom I have in thought and the life it affords me, you believe I live a life of burden, I do not understand why you believe that, in my acceptance of Christ I'm set free of those things you think burden me. Life is a constant flux, the reason being, mans constant changing of what he perceives as truth, I rely on the absolute truth of God to get me through life, there is no more stable force. Why do you insist that men thousands of years ago wrote a book to control me, that has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. If the Bible was written for that purpose then what benefit did these men receive from it, their dead, gone, lunch for worms and ect. This would have had to be the greatest trick ever pulled on man, through the many years the truth would have been revealed. Let's look at this thing you believe is a trick on mankind. For the sake of argument let's say Jesus was a real historical person, not necessarily God's Son. How is it that such a man could fulfill so many things that were prophesied about him, even to the point of manipulating the Jewish priest to manipulate a Roman governor, to hang him on a cross, because he broke some Jewish religious laws, that said governor could not have cared less about. Then some how pull off a resurrection with witnesses to boot. How is it that he keep the Jewish priest from exposing his body that would have still been in the tomb, if he did not actually rise from the dead, which he would be if he were not the Son of God, dead that is. Then he prophesied the destruction of the temple. How is it that said man, could have known the Jewish nation would be torn apart by Rome, and scattered all over the world, so that the focus coming out of said Jewish nation would be this man. How is it that such a powerful religion could spring up and survive out of all that calamity. I think all this could be worth looking into, could be he was more than a man.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Three points: You do *not* witness Christ, you have never fucking seen Christ in your life so don't spout that, it means *nothing*. Theres no evidence The Bible is anything but the fantasies and exaggerations of bored peasants with some time on their hands. Until you prove The Bible is the work of an omnipotent being again, it means *nothing*. The fact you would assume it is without any evidence proves the extent of indoctrination. Let us assume that some small part of the Bible is accurate. When in the Bible does Jesus ever outright say hes the son of God? You point out that passage and I'll reward you with a cookie.

Quote:Let us assume that some small part of the Bible is accurate. Never give one of these assholes an inch. They have to demonstrate that their fucking fairy tales are "accurate." G-C or others like him babbling on about their holy horseshit is not evidence by any stretch of the word. You don't accept your mortality, you cower from it hoping some "magical deity" will rescue you from what you detest most - equality. From ruler to beggar, believer to non-believer, we're all fated to eternal oblivion. We're all equal in death and share the same destiny whether we accept it or not, and this is what frightens and scares you out of your wits. I pity you. There may be no dumb questions but there are a couple of dumb fundies who have derailed what started off to be a good thread.
