Why So Angry?

I swear often, not because I'm worked up but because it's become part of standard vocabulary for me. Sometimes I use it to show emphasis, other times to add a little of my odd style of humor into a phraise.

The only time I can think of I actually got somewhat worked up recently was when I started talking to Anto Kennedy, he was blind as a retarded ferret and couldn't understand the most simple of sentences it seemed. There were specific things I said he assumed i meant the exact opposite of what I said and decided that because of that I was a horrible person that sought to break up families in my crusade against religion.

Because you know, sharing a bite to eat with the local pastor after visiting them Sunday and listening to his take on controversial verses quietly is such a crusade. That's totally why they invite me back and tell me I'm welcome anytime.

Anyways that is all beside the point, I just wanted to explain a bit so it wasn't me just fireing off a shot at Anto and moving on. The reason I got so worked up was completely my fault, I logged on when I was underslept, I was tired and grumpy from the getgo. Should never post when in a bad mood it never ends well.

I think it would be better as well, alas most of us cannot live that way, and therefore our ventilation of that anger is usually healthier than not doing so for us.

And what has swearing to do with rationality?

I have no idea what swearing has to do with rationality. I think it's funny how people assume that those who swear often are ignorant. I can see that assumption if you are swearing AND you aren't pronouncing words right. Like those people who use that "ghetto slang" ebonics crap or rednecks around where I live that "tawk leik theis". I swear almost every time my mouth opens.

Yeah tho' that's not a typical British accent - he's a bit 'BBC' - tho' we don't hold that against him. He's very cool. True snobs can swear and it doesn't sound like it.

He's very cool indeed, I find the youtube vid 'A discussion of language', that has two language discussion sketches from A Bit of Fry and Laurie, with him and Hugh Laurie, to be both hilarious and contain brilliant usage of language. Along with the 'Haircut' sketch.

It's indeed not a typical accent whatsoever. And the typical British accents vary over Britain depending on the regions of course. I used to find it a bit annoying when some Americans would think that we 'Brits' all talked like that. I can't believe I found that annoying. Now I find it hilarious and actually quite like it :p It's entertaining for me lol.

That said I think the kind of swearing you see typically associated with Chavs, whilst not proof of stupidity, does rather tend to lead one towards the conclusion that they are lacking a degree of linguistic ability.

I agree, but to make assumptions because of it, can also be a possible indication of stupidity of some form, so it's also important to not make assumptions of course.

I mean to believe that someone's a chav just because they swear, is fucking lunatic as Stephen Fry puts it, not everyone who swears is a chav. If only you took Stephen Fry alone as this clear example of a non-chav that swears!
