Wait so, you want to vegan because you think it is the ethically correct thing to do? Yet you aren't a vegan because you don't like it?
Wtf.

If you notice, my numbered items answer each sentence terminated by a period on the original post I quoted from you, just to make it clear.
1-Its perfectly rational, since for the 2 years I've been here, most of these talks end up in a bunch of offended parties for something that is a personal choice. It was a heads up from most posts in this thread. Yet you said you were dissaponted, Why is that?
2- When you say
Quote: If you're not a veg*n, why reply at all?
You are saying that any other input besideo the vegans shouldn't post here. I disagree and explained you why. I am intrigued though by the asterisk you used in "veg*n".
3- When you say you "hoped", you are being condescending, as if we all had to share your opinion. QED.

You assume that I'm the first to have such logic. But I see it from meat-eaters all the time (eg. "I wish I could be vegetarian but it's too hard and meat tastes so good!"). In fact, I'm seeing it now with the whole chikfila thing (as in "I don't like what they stand for, but I'm not gonna stop eating there"). The point is, unlike a lot of people, I'm actually trying to do what I believe is right. And @ LastPoet, the asterisk in veg*n is a quick way to spell out vegan and vegetarian.
Don’t ask.

Most of us try to live up to what our conscience seems to suggest, most of us miss the mark often -even if only slightly-. Nothing new there.
If you have ethical reasons for veganism, and you can't personally bring yourself the whole way, for whatever reason, then you are acting unethically -insofar as you have defined ethics-. Appealing to the hypocrisy of others in this particular instance is particularly confusing, as clearly "meat eaters" do not share your idea of what those ethics are or should be. Chances are that "meat eaters" are also trying to do what they believe is right, its simply that whether or not they eat chicken (or who provides the chicken) has no bearing on that particular subject by their definitions.
The values and ethics surrounding food are diverse, shared much less frequently than the subject of the same.

I think its perfectly natural that people react strongly to the hint of an absolute objective morality concerning the issue. It's personal choice. Like religion, as long as you keep it to yourself and don't attempt to push it on me, we don't have a problem.

Uh, nope. Don't see how that has any bearing on it being hypocritical or not.
Quote: But I see it from meat-eaters all the time (eg. "I wish I could be vegetarian but it's too hard and meat tastes so good!").
I'm not one of those. I actually haven't seen many meat eaters say they wish they were vegetarians.
Quote:In fact, I'm seeing it now with the whole chikfila thing (as in "I don't like what they stand for, but I'm not gonna stop eating there").
But there is a difference between caring so much that morals actually influence what you eat, and saying they do but still eating the same shit you think is unethical.
That's all I'm saying.
Quote:The point is, unlike a lot of people, I'm actually trying to do what I believe is right.
But not to the extent that you are actually doing what you believe is right? Correct me if I'm wrong.
People who are vegetarians on moral grounds, but don't seem to have the stomach to be full vegans, just seem to be contradicting why they say they don't eat meat IMO.
It's like, "Oh I don't eat meat because it's wrong, but I'll still eat the chicken fetus's because they're just too damn good to give up".
At least that's the impression I get.

First of all, eggs aren't chicken fetuses. They're just unfertilized chicken eggs. The trouble that vegans have with eggs is the fact that if a chicken can't lay any more of them, they get killed.
Second of all, I personally have never said dairy and eggs are too good to give up. I just said that the alternatives to them that I have tried suck. I'm not saying that I will never be a full vegan. I intend to be, it's just taking a while to get there that's all.
Don’t ask.

Isn't that a form of equivocation thou, ...No, you never said dairy and eggs are too good, but Yes, the alternatives are not as good as dairy or eggs.
If you have a moral issue with dairy and eggs, isn't the answer simply to do without, not wait until an alternative turns up.
Just curious, I'm not belittling your choice.

If the choice is velvety chocolate cake or higher moral ground...I (and apparently Diamond as well) choose the cake. What's the problem? Cake is awesome...moral high ground -not so much.
