I can feel your anger
RE: I can feel your anger
Why are you assuming that this life on mars is observable, it may not be. Perhaps Mars is teeming with life which we simply cannot detect, entire civilizations of ethereal beings whose existence is wholly unknown to us. But how would I know this, what would lead me to suggest this? What observations could I lay claim to in offering this alternative to a lifeless Mars?

That you cannot imagine a way to observe something does not make it unobservable, but I see now that your "reasoning" in this matter rests firmly in your assertions and assumptions of what can or cannot be observed. Nevermind that you don't have any observations to support this, even though you require them, because the purpose is not to understand or elababorate upon anything...merely to bitch and moan. Which brings us full circle to my original entry into this conversation.

Good, I'm glad we've cleared up whether or not you know anything about the immaterial. You don't, and in light of this, how are you qualified to blather on about what or where it might be, or that it might exist? Seems to me you know at least one thing about it -that it might exist-.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I'm as qualified as someone who dismisses something with no valid reason for doing so. Making a defined unobservable claim misses the point. That said, I'm unsurprised that you use an example.

One day you might answer the question, why MUST we be able to observe all there is?

I don't know, why must we?

I'm pretty sure I gave you a valid reason, more than once, and I'm fairly certain that it was precisely the reason that you offered, though for some reason you cannot seem to apply it to this particular subject, about which you know nothing.

Something about it being the best option we have? I think I'll suspend judgement.

So you don't actually read my responses do you? I'd pass on "best options" myself.

Link? I don't really differentiate between most atheists, whateverist is different but the rest seem pretty typical.

Howsabout you go back and reread, and going forward, save yourself the trouble, by reading the responses people offer in the first place before you continue to bitch and moan about what you believe to be contained with them?

In other words, no link for you -even here I have to suggest that you do your own work. ffs...

Then this discussion can go no further, since you are unwilling to actually have a discussion, instead preferring to talk to yourself using my persona as a proxy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Materialism

"In philosophy, the theory of materialism holds that the only thing that exists is matter or energy; that all things are composed of material and all phenomena (including consciousness) are the result of material interactions. In other words, matter is the only substance, and reality is identical with the actually occurring states of energy and matter."
