I would think that in this case he'll perform a hairpin u-turn that'll have your heart in your mouth and turn your intestines to liquid. I recommend fastening your seatbelt and having a change of underwear handy.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

She has that effect on me as well. As do all the other ladies around here.

Coming from a Christian, I will take that as a complement, I'm having a tee shirt made so I can show it to the Pope. Unfortunately the desire of a mythical deity that I believe and worship is the exact opposite, of what I wish from my son.
...And yet you said you would allow you son to rebel and let Him go his own way. I guess what you meant by that is that he be allowed to go his own way IF that way is not towards God.

The god of the xtians is claimed to be all knowing - and that COMPLETELY prevents "FREE" will.
If the god knows everything that will happen BEFORE it happens - as claimed - then WHEN it does happen - there is NO "FREE" choice. YOU can only do what the god already knows.
IF the god already knows you are evil - you CANNOT choose to do otherwise and the god remain All Knowing.
So - since - as a human I can only make decisions and "choices" when I an alive - YOU cannot say that I am "FREE" to choose any of the possible options if the god already knows - I am not actually free to choose something the god doesn't know.
you guys MUST come off an assembly line somewhere.

Why not? That's where ad hominems come from.

There is the nub, my son has free will, and I would never dream of punishing him for his thoughts. I respect my son.

Letting your offspring go their own way is the whole damn point of being a parent! As many of you know, my Forever Princess Sam and I never got the chance to be parents; nevertheless, even I know how to raise a child and clearly far better than anyone who espouses the parental opinions as Drich has done.
Incidentally, it's been four pages now and while I welcome and enjoy the discussions we've been having, the only theistic opinion on my original question made no attempt to connect the violation of free will with the divine revelation that supposedly converts a person to the religion relevant to that person's societal upbringing. I'm starting to wonder why.

Because your rebuttles/questions have wandered from the OP and the response I directed towards it. It's your thread, and your questions. Would you have me hijack it from you to stay on topic?

Well, it was a simple enough question I would have thought. Answer it or don't answer it, whatever you feel like doing. Just don't dance around it and then pretend you answered it but I'm not intellectual enough to understand the answer. Yes I am in an emotionally impaired condition right now, in fact it's worsened over the last twenty minutes to the point where I'd better sign off and go to bed while I still can; however even I can spot when the Emperor has no clothes.
And on that note, and in that spirit, I really had better sign out before someone comes to grief.
