So according to the Cosmos guy, Carl Sagan, we are all stardust but according to the theists we are all turd balls of the one true god? Let's see .. stardust or turd balls?

Physically we come from Stars.
Spiritually we come from God.

Yeah, aren't atheists stupid?
I mean whenever you ask them "Any idea how we got here?" they just go "erm... chance" and run away.

Now heres a theory, feel free to stop me if you've heard it;
Someone who sees paper clips as a chance to praise Jesus is probably abit biased? I'm just spitballing here.
Feel free to correct me.

Why should we look bad?

So we invent explanations.

No, that's theists. Like you, Vinny.

Atheists are quite happy to say "I don't know".

It is theists that have a desire for a neatly packaged, easy answer to every question.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

At least biblical theism offers some answers to the why questions.

A theory (atheology) which attempts to explain ''how'' but NOT ''why'' strikes me as being incomplete.

Better incomplete than giving all the wrong answers.

Who's to say there is a why for everything? I've seen no purpose for our existence, all there has ever been in that area is man-made theologies. You can give yourself a reason to exist, but don't try and give us all that reason.

“I believe that the universe was created out of nothing by chance.”

But chance can’t create anything. It’s a word that we use to describe or talk about probabilities. If I flip a coin the chances of it landing heads up if flipped (assuming it doesn’t land on its side) is 50%. But if it does land heads up, chance didn't "cause" it to flip, I did. "Chance" doesn't stand in casual relation to things.

“Chance” as the cause of the universe seems silly.

What do you guys think?

You haven't heard of chaos theory, have you?

It is possible things pop in and out of existence all the time.

Quote:Even nothing acts strange at the smallest levels. The vacuum is presumably not really empty, but instead filled with "virtual" particles that constantly blink in and out of existence.

This virtual reality follows from a quantum rule that says probable events influence real outcomes. More specifically, it is possible (though highly unlikely) for particles and anti-particles to pop out of nowhere and then quickly annihilate. Nobody ever sees this happen, but the sum of all this quantum probability is a real energy.
