It has just dawned on me. Since alleged islamic attack, this religion seems to have skyrocketed in acceptance. Could it be that accepting the islamic faith is a show of rebellion against the U.S.?

Haiti is very much like the regions where Islam originated and flourished.
No real resources, large groups of people, desperate circumstances everywhere.
A simple look at an aerial shot between the Dominican Republic and Haiti is like day and night -- a muddy, desolate waste on Haiti and a forest on the Dominican Republic.
It makes you wonder about the difference in cultural values between careful stewardship and outright locust-like overpopulation.
