Well all that is obviously utter bullshit and steeped in stupidity and ignorance. And one would have to be a complete moron to think otherwise.
I dont think belief in an afterlife dulls the pain of losing a loved one any more.I think it has more to do with the idea of them still existing in some way and that might be the comforting thought. But for me its not,in fact its the opposite,I would hate to exist forever.
I lost a member of my family this year my Grandad after suffering the effects of a stroke,he was an atheist as well.My parents are spiritualists and would say they would get my Grandads spirit around. Now I dont believe in an afterlife,I haven't for sometime and I did actually believe in a form of afterlife for some time longer than not believing in a god.And so after he died and they would say they would get his spirit,I sometimes asked what he would say and things like that.It was only a couple of times and not for a long time.It probably was because I was grieving you go through alot of emotions after something like that.
But I dont believe in an afterlife and the idea someone exists forever is just unsettling to me.And remember the one thing for those who have lost a loved one you will always have those memories, and experiences and those are more real than any religions fake afterlife.

I agree with pocaracus on the point regarding crying/feeling sad. Subconsciously (in their "heart of hearts") I think they know damn well there is no God, no afterlife, no heaven, no hell, etc. They just practice a very deep delusional state of cognitive dissonance to keep up the facade and stave off the fear of the unknown.
To the rest of the nonsense...yeah, Christians say lots of dumb things due to their assumptions and downright psychological feelings of fear/inadequacy. Let's keep pounding them with logic bombs!

I wondered if my comments on this quote were the same as the Atheists in this forum, and wondered if my opinions fit the definitions of an Atheist. So, here goes:
Quote:Seriously, does anybody ever cry at an Atheist’s funeral? I mean, since Atheists have no value whatsoever as human beings (they’re not even human, but only inhuman animals)
Quote:,since Atheists are nothing but miserable Liars, Cowards and Murderers,
Quote:And what epitaph do you engrave on an Atheist’s gravemarker? “Here lies the only good Atheist, which is a dead Atheist”. What else is there say? Nothing at all.
Quote:Every time an Atheist dies, the world is better off as a result of that dead Atheist being dead, & its damned God-forsaken soul burning in the fiery pits of Hades.
Quote:Which begs another related question, do Atheists cry at funerals? If so, why? Quote:It is true: The only good Atheist is a dead Atheist.
This has become a rant, but am I thinking the same as an Atheist would think? Just curious. -Tar

I am not an atheist, but i do like comin on here to see what the views on certain situations are, and one thing i find is this, comments and quotes like this goes to show how a lot of people miss one thing, whether Jesus was divine or human, he was a real man born of this world. When he taught the only message he wanted to get across, if none other, was love. Though many view this kind of ignorance as funny or "christian behavior" i find and believe love and compassion the reason to cry over an atheist's death, just as i would over a jewish person, muslim, buddhist, or any other person. though the views of afterlife may be different, does not mean an atheist is a heartless being. i served in afghanistan for a year and found that many view muslims the say way, when in actuality a true muslim is a peaceful, caring and hospitable person who will welcome a stranger with open arms.

I don't think it is the bigotry or religion per se but more the humanity of people.

The worst I got so far was pocahontas... that's a girl's name -.-'
pocaracas comes from a slightly intricate word play in the portuguese language.
I took the original expression "vai para o caraças", which is used in the exact same occasions as "go fuck yourself", however there's no literal translation for this caraças word. The ç has the sound of 's' in sound. Orally, we tend to omit the 'vai' and to concatenate 'para o' as 'pó' (ó mean an open 'o', as in cop), so we're left with pó caraças. Concatenate it and convert non ASCII characters to proper ASCII and you get pocaracas.
So my nick can be seen to mean: fuck'y'self...
That's it, no biggie... why do people get it wrong?!
On the topic at hand, I've said all there was to be said.

I disagree strongly on both of the points you made here. First, you say all that Jesus wanted to teach was love? Have you read your bible? Please open your bible and read the following chapters:
Matthew 13, Matthew 25, Mark 9, Luke 16, Revelation 14, Revelation 20-21
Jesus did NOT preach only "love". Does a loving father lock his kids in the basement and torture them? There is no love there...sorry. You should also read the passages in the Old Testament where your God commands and/or endorses genocide, infanticide, slavery, rape, and human sacrifice (1 Samuel 15, Hosea 13, Judges 11, Exodus 21, Exodus 31, Leviticus 20, Psalm 139, Deuteronomy 20-22, Judges 21). This is loving?
Second, you say "a true muslim is a peaceful, caring and hospitable person". But this is completely false. The purest versions of Islam are violent, intolerant, sexist, and murderous. Have you read the Koran or the Hadith?

I am appreciative that you served our country in the military, and I have many friends serving in the armed forces currently, but these arguments do not hold weight. The histories of both Judaism/Christianity and Islam are violent ones, and anyone who says otherwise just doesn't know their history. There is no reason to believe in any of these man-made deities.

Because you seem to be bothered by it
LOL!
No, the order is the other way around. First, they get it wrong, then they get it wrong... after a lot of wrongs, I get bothered...
So that can't be a reason to get it wrong, D.D.
