Do you have the same opinions?

Do you have the same opinions?
I was reading http://ibastudent.wordpress.com/2008/01/...hat-rooms/ trying to get a laugh. It was funny, really. Then one of the quotes struck me. I wondered if my comments on this quote were the same as the Atheists in this forum, and wondered if my opinions fit the definitions of an Atheist. So, here goes:
Quote:Seriously, does anybody ever cry at an Atheist’s funeral? I mean, since Atheists have no value whatsoever as human beings (they’re not even human, but only inhuman animals)
Geez.
1: Only humans possess the ability to speak.
2: I can speak.
3: Therefore, I'm human.
Now, prove that I'm an inhuman animal.
Quote:,since Atheists are nothing but miserable Liars, Cowards and Murderers,
I am not miserable. I only lie if what I will say will make me the devil, I am arachnophobic, but I think that's not enough to make me a coward, and I have never attempted to killed anybody.
Quote:after all, why would anybody in their right mind weep over the dead rotting corpse, or bone chips and ashes (that get mixed together with those of others from the crematory) of a worthless dead Atheist?
Understanding Athiest people and open-minded friends and people?
Quote:And what epitaph do you engrave on an Atheist’s gravemarker? “Here lies the only good Atheist, which is a dead Atheist”. What else is there say? Nothing at all.
I could say that I'm a loving person who cared for people, and that I liked computers...? And as I can see, I am not the only Atheist. I can say more on my gravemarker, definitely.
Quote:No last words, no last rites, no flowers, no anything.
B.S.! I will have last words unless I never spoke my whole life.
Quote:Every time an Atheist dies, the world is better off as a result of that dead Atheist being dead, & its damned God-forsaken soul burning in the fiery pits of Hades.
And why? I haven't damaged, hurt, destroyed, brainwashed, forced, killed anything, living or not! Tell me why!!! But anyway, my soul (if any) would feel nothing because only my dead skin has heat/pain/pressure receptors... Sad
Quote:Which begs another related question, do Atheists cry at funerals? If so, why?
Well, of course! I'd cry just as you WOULD if something terrible happens to something/somebody I care about! Whatever gave you that thought?!
Quote:Since Atheists hate God, and they hate Family, and they hate Country, who are they crying for?
I cannot hate something that doesn't exist. I love my family beyond many things. I...uh, DISAPROVE OF, and not hate, my country. Well, I already said who I'd cry for.
Quote:It is true: The only good Atheist is a dead Atheist.
Again, what did WE do wrong?
This has become a rant, but am I thinking the same as an Atheist would think? Just curious. -Tar

Is this really worth responding to? That person is a fucking idiot. That is all that needs to be said.

More important than "why do atheists cry at funerals", is the question: why do christians cry at funerals?
Are they so convinced that their loved ones are going to hell?
Or, if they are going to heaven, the funeral should be a celebration, a happy occasion... why do they make it a sad event? Why do they cry?

Everything else is just hypocrisy on the part of whoever wrote that.

I'd say that I'd cry because I'd miss them. But after some time, I'd be happy--really--because... They're dead! They won't suffer in Earth any more. I'm not saying anything like "heaven". I'm just saying that he'd feel nothing--no pleasure, no pain--because he/she's dead.
As for your question, living in a really religious country means some laughable experiences. When my grandfather died, my family had someone who would recite prayers for many days after he died. Then they joined that praying woman overnight, begging for my grandfather not to go to hell, et cetera. It was crazy. I was already an Atheist that time, so whenever I think of that incident, I think of that praying woman wearing a Superman costume, except she had a "P" in place of an "S", for "Pamahiin" (which means "superstitious beliefs" in my language). Too bad I had to see those moments--they're funny, anyway!

RE: Do you have the same opinions?
I'm kind of skeptical that that is a real list of things said, not because I believe that Christian's wouldn't privately say such sort of nonsense to each other. In fact I've heard similar things before growing up. No, I'm skeptical because the spelling is abnormally good for an internet chat room, much less a christian internet chat room.

I cry at funerals. A friend of mine died last summer and I cried at his funeral. He was gone and that was just it. It feels more difficult to know he's gone and he's not in some afterlife or he's being reincarnated or anything else like that. The person who wrote that just sounds likea bigot who, if given the opportunity, is going to say any mean thing he can about atheists.

Life's too short to respond to every dipshit that says something this stupid about atheists. Beisdes, I'm too busy eating babies and worshipping Satan to care.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

RE: Do you have the same opinions?
I remembe an article a while ago on this topic, but I can't find it now.

I could be wrong, but the essence was that religious people and atheists go through a similair mourning process and suffer equally.

Edit; A lot of people actually lose their faith or go back to church after a loved one died, or when they get seriously ill.

Folk won like to hate monger do more to deconstruct the Christian/religious ethos and create more non-believers than any rational argument ever could.

I say to that man' "keep up the good work!"

Indeed.

Christians also seem quite scared of death considering they believe it is only a new beginning, an eternal, blissful one.

If I KNEW it was real and that I was going to heaven, and it was such a great place, I'd be desperate to throw a fucking seven?

I can only conclude that deep down they must have doubts that the baloney they believe is true (and so they should)
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.
