Personally I have never had any problems with KDE, though I can't speak for the easiness of Ubuntu since I'm a Mandriva girl at heart.

Exactly. Gnome may not have the looks by default (that is easily changeable though...), but at least it works easily. Everything is kind obvious, the menus work really well, etc. In KDE I had trouble enough getting the internet to connect, and then finding the package manager was just ridiculous.

I have never had a problem like that, it's always been easy to use.

Mac OS X, like Linux, is Unix based. If you know how to use a Mac (as in, the advanced stuff too), you'll be fine on Linux.
I agree with you, after I switched to a Mac I can't get off it either.

Hmm, since you might have experience with doing so... Is it true that you can switch between Mac and Windows rapidly via Linux? Or does it work in much the same way as Boot Camp? (Which seems to require shut down and rapid intervention on startup to switch, although I've never printed the guide so I don't know of another way.)
