Why Does God Need A Creator?
#51
RE: Why Does God Need A Creator?
But see, that goes back to the original subject of this thread. If the mere existence of the universe is proof that it has a creator, meaning there's no way it could exist unless something else created it, then that means something must've created the creator, and something must've created that, and something must've created that, ad infinitum. Or, if it is indeed possible for the creator to exist without having a creator of its own, then it's just as feasible for the universe to be devoid of one as well.

Why can"t you people see how idiotic it is to invent superheroes with special powers? Your religion is false, it's made up crap, there is nothing about it that can be proven and really in my opinion there is nothing about your religion that is even worthwhile.

Please for the sake of humanity stop with you beliefs and use your mind.

Quote:Perhaps a better analogy would be the automotive industry made the car/Ford made the car. Both answers are true.

That analogy does not accurately describe your position. You did not make the claim that a god/gods or natural process is responsible for everything. You claim that one, specific god is responsible for everything.

Why does god get to have special circumstances surrounding his existence, and how do you know about them?
If you believe it, question it. If you question it, get an answer. If you have an answer, does that answer satisfy reality? Does it satisfy you? Probably not. For no one else will agree with you, not really.

Faith! Duh... Tongue

Many years ago I was in love with one of my friends, who did not return my affections. Now, I could've had faith that she'd eventually realize that she too had been in love with me all along and thereby waste my life waiting for that to happen. Instead, I went by the evidence (including her specifically telling me that she had no romantic feelings for me), and though it was initially painful, I stopped hanging out with her and got on with my life. So that pretty much sums up my attitude toward faith. Rolleyes

If God did not need to be created, why does the universe require a creator?

God waits for you, not the other way around.

Like I've said in this thread already, so we're covering the same ground again... God is timeless.... To ask the question what came before what, is irrelevant as time order is ruled out already.

Questions of origins are scientific, and of no interest to theology. We're only interested in why, not how. The Bible never addresses 'how'. Sure it's human to be curious. That's what fuels scientific endeavour. The subject fascinates me too, and I'm interested in the scientific theories.

Wherever those theories lead, never detracts from my faith in God. Because behind the science, behind the wonder and awe at it, is God. God adds nor detracts anything from it, he doesn't need to. It is him.

I did not ask 'what came before what'. I'm asking, if you believe that God doesn't need to be created, why do you believe the universe must have been created?

Because one is time dependant and one isn't.

Also, scientific questions are another subject

I should like to know how it is that you know god is timeless.
If you believe it, question it. If you question it, get an answer. If you have an answer, does that answer satisfy reality? Does it satisfy you? Probably not. For no one else will agree with you, not really.
