When the teacher comes in and finds me ready, she invariably uses me for her own gratification. At least I get high marks this way. Oh yeah, that's the one. So when the "student" has comprehensively shown up the "teacher", the teacher can run and hide under under that pretext and avoid showing his disgraced face. Brilliant! Nothing short of Jesus can spark this inspiration. Oh, wait, I recall reading something just like from Buddha and a bunch of others. Nevermind. Forgive me but it sounds like you answered your own question re the core value/message. Did that have to be literal? I don't see why, though I must confess to not giving it much thought. Yes and as for the Proverbs quote, you need to want to know, and not want too be ignorant, it's true. Hmm that came out wrong :) (May 3, 2013 at 4:07 pm)fr0d0 Wrote: Forgive me but it sounds like you answered your own question re the core value/message. Did that have to be literal? Well I was kind of wondering if you thought there was anything in the core Christian message which has value whether or not one had ambitions for an afterlife and whether or not one thought the bible was authentic or even whether or not any one believes Jesus was a real person. Ah right well yes I do. I think the message is to live in harmony with the natural world. How you reconcile that sans Christ is a mystery to me, hence why I believe what I do. Enoch did it, so everyone else can (in dogma speak). Maybe dogma is the biggest evil. (May 3, 2013 at 4:52 pm)fr0d0 Wrote: Ah right well yes I do. The only way I can make sense of the Christian message is if it's adherents would embrace it even without an afterlife, or god or the bible. If any would still claim it then it must be a valuable perspective. Any who hold to it only for the sake of the supernatural or the reward, are -from my point of view- failed humans.
lol well regretfully I think I'd have to agree

I was just hoping to start it in his honor so that I may be a pupil to such wisdom... Let's go bud...The floor is ALL yours. What's the first lesson? Studies have already shown that it is the Non-believers who are MOST likely to know the most about individual religions. So - to address that to an xtian is somehow meaningless - they really do not know. There is NO SINGLE christian faith - there are literally tens of thousands of them - and if YOU ask one from each of the sects - they will give you LOTS of reasonable and logical reasons why ALL THE OTHERS are wrong. And that is true about all religions. So - if you want to know which religion is true - ask theists - they will ELIMINATE them all for you - in a reasonable and logical way too. There are thousands of denominations within one faith, whom agree on core principles and call each other siblings. There are also non trinitarian Christians who would be classified as different faiths... But there number would be less than one hundred. You kinda made your assertion of ignorance bite your ass. Well done! |
