Seeing the god/goddess standing there looking at me while another person is standing there looking at the god/goddess at the same time. This way I would know it's not a hallucination. Also, we'd be sober, of course

I'm happy to see that this thread has sparked so much conversation. For the record, I'm a convert from fundamentalist, generic, American, non-denominational Christianity. As such, the arguments I make against any god will be rooted in the understanding I have of this religion, so when I say, "God," I mean that of the Bible.

Even so, I consider my objection based on lack of personally convincing evidence to be proof that if there is a deity, it is either not a loving one or a loving one that is not all-powerful. It's an argument against the Abrahamic God.

When I say, "supernatural," I suppose I'm referring to ghosts, spirits, or any kind of non-corporeal consciousness that we've heard of through legend. For example, I could conceive that you could construct convincing evidence that the djinn of Islam exist. I don't know what it would be though.

What distinguishes the "supernatural" is not the in the supposed essence of the thing that is said to be supernatural. It is entirely in calculated refusal to tone down the claims in accordance to the shabbiness and meagerness of the evidence.

God. That is what would convince me. He's omniscient; he knows exactly what it would take for me to believe in him. He just doesn't care. Or doesn't exist...

The jinns "of Islam" do exist, that is an undeniable fact. Muslims call them jinns but they are known by many other names such as "ghosts", "spirits", "devils", even "gods". It just depends upon which civilization is defining it.

Well...I did say that someone could conceivably put together convincing evidence that the Djinns/Efreets/spirits/gods exist...I just certainly haven't seen it yet. As far as I'm concerned, a djinn is exactly equal to a nymph from Greek mythology in that it's a cool story, but that's it.

An Ifreet is a particular type of Jinn lol I see why you are saying that it's just a "cool story", perhaps you come from a background where not many people summon these things/communicate with them in any way? Basically you're completely cut off from them, if you go pretty much anywhere in the Muslim world or even in some areas in South America or the islands of Indonesia, it is very likely you'll come across them. And there is a good reason for that.

In fact, there are people who speak with the Jinn regularly here in the UK where I live, if you go with one of them I can guarantee it will put all doubts to rest. At the same time I do not encourage doing this because usually they summon evil dastardly jinn who could easily wreck your life.

So is God having a little Jinn infestation in His creation He can't quite seem to get under control? Or are Jinn all part of God's plan, His emissaries so to speak?
