You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Not at all. We do not know where the complexity of nature comes from. For products of mankind we know and that proves complex design comes from nature.
But that shows that in every instance where we do know where it comes from, it is an intelligent being.
So the scientific principle has been established.
The vast complexity of life is more complex than anything we have made and in fact are very intelligence is a product of that.
Therefore, the vast complexity of life comes from a very intelligent Creator, aka God.

Or is it because you can compare and contrast different objects and use inductive reasoning? (When I say you, I don't literally mean "you", because you apparently can't).

This is all well and good, but it is still a distraction.
The believer cant wrap their head around the absurdity of an "all powerful" god creating everything, who still dodges the nasty crap that exists, and refuses to blame their god for what they didn't have to allow in the first place.
And it also fails to address "which god".
When you pull shit out of your ass you can make any absurdity work and have it both ways.
