Is killing a witch always a bad thing?

It's practitioners did all sorts of terrible things in the name of satan. Whether satan endowed those people with powers or not the underlying fact is that much torment and destruction was doled out in his name. Much like the crusades or inquisitions.

That in mind the question stands how much would it take to kill someone else who was trying to worship their deity by tormenting you/your family?

I get that witchcraft is a real religion, in the same sense that christianity is; they both have untenable beliefs that don't match with reality. I was asking whether you were posing your hypothetical as a literal magical assault, or a physical one done under the auspices of a religious witchcraft ritual.

The former obviously isn't going to happen, and as for the latter, that's what laws are for. We've had self defense clauses in our laws for ages; why would a witchcraft based assault be any different from a regular one?

Pointy hat aside, that is. Tongue

Magical assaults? Where did you get that? I said that people in the efforts of worshiping satan do all sorts of horrible things. Now my question was based on the idea that you were the focus of such a worship ceremony. Again whether the devil endowed these people with powers or not is not the issue. Let's say he doesn't, yet they are still killing your pets, breaking into your home performing various religious rights and ceremonies in your house while your away, and have expressed an interest in offering you to their deity.

Now you've turned this over to the police, they come back not enough evidence to arrest, what do you do? How long do you live in terror/under threat?

Now and again 300 years ago? Remember 300 years ago (in the west) atheism was not a viable option, so 'good people' like yourselves have limited options when wanting to express a hatred towards God. This was how it was done and tormenting the faithful was par for the course.

Did you read anything past the thread title?

But what if the god is not loving? I'm atheist, but I'm trying to think outside the box. Suppose there was a god. He is most certainly not babysitting us. I mean, if he allows for kids to be raped, kids to starve, women to be sold as candy, etc... why would he not allow witches to torture?

Sometimes the rituals are quite gross and horrific, in some countries albino body parts are supposed to be powerful so the stupid mother fuckers kidnap and kill albinos.

But witches are no more dangerous than other religiously motivated people when they get these ideas in their heads. The persecution and torture of innocent people in the mistaken belief they were witches can be readily laid at the foot of christianity.

Maybe this is the problem, "a real witch" is anyone (benign or fanatical) who practices the religion of witchcraft. Not someone who must have access to demonic or 'dark' powers.

Which opens reality to a whole lot of people in this day and age and in days past. My question asks is one ever justified in killing one of these people?

Remember witches are people and like all people 'we' are as dangerous as we want to be.

Killing them because of witchcraft they think they're practicing which we all recognize as fake or because of something else?

Is anyone ever Justified in Killing A Christian considering the damage inflicted by your species of people. Are we justified in Killing ministers for leading many people through anxiety and suicide over the fear of hell.

To be honest a witch worked on the idea that she wouldent fuck with you if you didnt fuck with her.

Christianity works on the idea of - I will fuck with you then when I am finished - God will fuck with you!

I think you've been watching way too many witch movies Drich, that's what I think.

I also think you have no idea what witches believe. But, that's just your intentional pious ignorance on the matter.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

And if you honestly believe in witches - that is, beings using magic, not simply followers of a particular religion (Wicca, usually) - then I'm concerned about your mental state. This isn't the 17th century.

Strawman.

I did not "tacitly nor explicitly say one is always right." Just answer the question as stated. Is it always wrong to kill a witch?

Notice how you had to shuck and jive to answer yes. Now take away the shucking and jiving and answer the question again.

This is an odd thread. Am I missing something? Drich, are you trying to justify the Witch Trials or something?

They're typically neo-pagans and as such believe in one or more deities from ancient Greek, Roman, Hindu, Egyptian, or other mythologies. Rarely do you see any of them performing ritual sacrifice or doing anything else remotely evil.

Those would be benign witches. Now what of the aggressive ones?
