You don't know what's going on in this thread, Ronedee, to an extent that I have to wonder if there's something going on with you that's causing this confusion.
(December 19, 2013 at 7:48 pm)ronedee Wrote: Do you ignore, or just give passes to what atheists say?
Nope.
(December 19, 2013 at 7:48 pm)ronedee Wrote: Or, are you just concentrating on Christians' every utterance in order to trap them?
I'm not anit-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
(December 19, 2013 at 7:48 pm)ronedee Wrote: I "may have" overracted (and quotes can be used for "emphasis") but, here's some quotes from this very thread....
"What the Founding Fucking Fathers intended don't mean shit anymore. That was 200+ years ago and things have changed."
"They were also quite big on slavery.
So why the fuck are their 'intentions' still relevant."
"It's fundamentalism for the constitutional crowd (with all of the hypocrisy and ridiculous outcomes you'd expect of fundamentalists and their flawed reading of "scripture")."
I bet you could have responded to those quotes intelligently instead of going on a rant about people wanting to tear up the Constitution.
(December 19, 2013 at 7:48 pm)ronedee Wrote: You may "say" that this is no proof of a "torn up paper", But, I would be eviscerated here for tyranny and unpatriotism! Actually, Christians tied to the Constitution (in any way) are! And in this thread!
If you had said the same thing and we eviscerated you for it, it would be for your actual position. We wouldn't accuse you of wanting to get rid of the Constitution and proceed from there.
(December 19, 2013 at 7:48 pm)ronedee Wrote: So, let me ask you (and the others) a question.... If religion, God and "any" mention of them in the Constitution were to be removed would you be for it?
No. The fact that you think we would illustrates how deeply you misunderstand us. As a general rule, no one is more for freedom of religion than atheists, particularly atheists who are humanists and/or freethinkers. When Constitutional issues come up that particularly concern atheists, that concern is usually that Christians are violating the Constitution yet again.

Quote:It has often been seen on the Internet that to find God in the Constitution, all one has to do is read it, and see how often the Framers used the words "God," or "Creator," "Jesus," or "Lord." Except for one notable instance, however, none of these words ever appears in the Constitution, neither the original nor in any of the Amendments. The notable exception is found in the Signatory section, where the date is written thusly: "Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven".

And it's not our fault that the two so frequently happen to be synonymous.

I'm not going to address any of you individually anymore... because you are just like a pack of wild dogs, fighting and feeding on any tidbit that drops off the wagon.
We don't speak the same language. You (all) use personal attacks to "act" like you are getting point(s) across... and to be honest? I'm fucking sick of it!
You're not looking for anything but to degrade God, Jesus and anyone associated with God, and any thoughts of a spiritual nature. You are spiritually dead! Like St. Paul says: "God, and Jesus are nonsense to the lost men of this world." And trying to reason with people like you is an occasion for sin!
The Constitution of the United States of America was written by [Godly people]. Who prayed before every meeting Be glad you're not living with a country (yet) that doesn't fear God. Freedom and God are synonymous. No matter what way you try to carve it up to be.
Why do people want to be in America? Just ask anyone crossing our borders illegally longing for a better life? FREEDOM. And you can't have it without everything that God stands for!
When the Constitutional Convention hit a snag 5 weeks in because of arguments and misunderstandings.... what did they do? PRAY!!
Believe whatever you want about the piece of paper, and the men who assembled it. Fact is, that God was indeed the inspiration that empowered everything that resulted in our US Constitution.

I'm not sure how god and freedom can be synonymous, when everything Yahweh does is basically an authoritarian dictatorship. You have no freedom. You are told exactly how to act, in complete servitude, and one step out of line risks eternal torture.
Paul was right that it doesn't make sense to people who aren't already caught up in it.

You actually believe that?
If we are so disgusting, you know the way out. Buh-bye.

"authoritarian dictatorship"?
And what did God "make you" do today, besides coming here?
No... God gave us freedom of choice you fool. Enjoy it now.

God doesn't make me do anything because I don't believe he exists. If the bible was divinely inspired, he demands many things from me that I find immoral, and I would be expected to follow them or be tortured after I die. Though about the only thing clear about that book is that we are meant to be slaves. We are expected to give up everything that makes us unique, because someone deems us evil. Our good works are as dirty rags, and the only use he has for us is praising and serving him.
Choices are only useful if the person giving you a choice actually respects it. Telling you that you're allowed to be your own person, but setting you on fire if you actually do choose your own path, makes it as meaningless as the idea of "saving" you from something he created because of rules he set up.

What freedom of choice? "Do exactly what I say or else I'm going to torture you for eternity?" Some choice. Or do you meant the freedom to choose one of many different Christian churches to attend on Sunday morning?
As for "you fool:" "...whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." - Matthew 5:22
