Themes raised by GetMeRex ...
1. Atheists have no feelings.
2. Life has no meaning without religion.
3. Atheism is disorganised, unplanned.
4. Positive atheists are communists and ideologues who believe in tooth fairies.
5. The vast majority of atheists are the "so what" variety.
6. Religion provides structure and meaning. What does atheism offer in its place?
7. There is safety in thinking about Jesus, there is no safety in atheist thinking.
8. Although, it might be safe with a miniature Christopher Hitchens on your shoulder, but that is unpleasant.
9. Atheism is jumping into deep, dark waters.
10. Atheists throw hollow facts at sensitive humans and complex social discourse. Ergo, atheists only care for themselves.
11. Atheists delight in the exasperation their shallow messages entail.
12. Super-rational (or super-neutral?) leads to philosophical backwardness.
13. An appetite for wonder does not compare to the grand depth of feeling in religious thought (even to stupid religious people).
e.g. eulogies that praise a scientists acquisition of knowledge can't be given to infants, stupid or misfortunate people.
14. How does the wondering and majestic enquiring mind make sense of the death of millions?
15. Ergo, atheists have nothing to contribute to the lives of anyone but those who share their brutish views.
16. Are there any conceptions of an atheistic universe that aren't reactionary or flippant, but make real sense to emotional human minds?
I'll let that sink in before trying to reply. But I think I've already failed the flippancy test.
