Consoles Wars are stupid

It gets a little annoying when people argue over which gaming platform is the best. Lets keep it real if Microsoft or Sony went out of the gaming business then the lack of competition in my opinion would lead to less innovation in the industry. Also I own a gaming laptop the Samsung series 7 gamer and have probably spent 1500 bucks on steam over two years. But I swear some PC gamers like the smell of their own farts.

People argue over which console is best because many people can't afford to buy all of them at once. Almost no one has a PC, a WiiU, an Xbox One, and a PS4. So they have to choose, and like to crap on other systems to make themselves feel better about their own choice. It's just a silly thing poor people do.

It's all subjective anyways, what makes a gaming device the "best". Graphics, exclusive content, controller?

I think they all have their perks and issues, but it is what the gamer is looking for in a device that makes it better to them.

I don't think you need lots of competition though to create a great product, the act of creating something magnificent and beneficial to people, along with some profit for your hard work, is enough to create innovation.

It never turns out well when someone has a monopoly, though. They'll just overprice stuff, and likely sell lower quality items because of lack of competition. Then again, we probably wouldn't need to buy a new system every 5-6 years either.

Sorry about that. I just recently decided to try PC only this year. Consoles keep getting more and more expensive, with the WiiU still costing over 300 dollars for a cousin of mine. I just decided to ask for VIP in Lord of the Rings Online, and will probably buy some stuff on Steam.

Was the gaming industry less innovative before sony and microsoft built their current monopolies? Certainly not. I'd argue it was far more so. The early 90's were probably the most innovative time for videogaming and microsoft hadn't even come onto the scene with the xbox. Sony only got going in 1994. Nintendo on their own are probably the most innovative game company ever to exist and they're still innovating shit today. Let's not forget as well the long line of gaming PC's that helped to build the gaming industry to what it is. If sony or microsoft decided to pursue other ventures another company would just fill the void. Seriously, even Steam are going to be launching their own damn console. Less innovation my ass.
